Wichita Falls Public Library (WFPL) offers summer reading programs for children, teens, and adults. Participants must have a Wichita Falls Public Library card and can sign up any time on or after June 1, 2009.
Wichita Falls Public Library invites children on a Reading Safari. After reading five hours, kids can turn in their reading log for a prize. The goal is for children under 10 to read 15 hours on or before August 1, but children can read as many as 100 hours and continue to earn free stuff.
Wichita Falls Public Library also encourages pre-teens and teens, ages 10 to 17, to participate in their teen summer reading program. Teens complete three or more book reviews between June 1 and August 1 and earn a free flash drive.
Wichita Falls Public Library also offers adults, those 18 and older, a chance to earn a free WFPL tote bag by submitting four book reviews between June 1 and August 1.
Book logs and book review forms are available at Wichita Falls Public Library at 600 11th Street, Wichita Falls, TX 76301 or through their website at www.wfpl.net.
Wichita Falls Public Library also offers a wide variety of children's programming for the summer, from movies to magicians. The library will also host Storytime with a Celebrity Reader every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Past celebrities have included Mayor Lanham Lyne and Gwyn Bevel, News Anchor for KFDX, the local NBC affiliate station.
