As you enter and pass the gatehouse (for vendors only), you see a huge open/sheltered market to your right. With over 21,000 square feet you will discover, seasonal fruits, vegetables, plants, and fresh cut flowers. From strawberries in May, blueberries in June, peaches in July, apples in August, chrysantheums in September, pumpkins in October, to Christmas trees in the winter and Easter egg hunts in April, you will need to visit frequently. There is a season for every plant and no better place to shop than the Piedmont Triad Farmer's Market.
A second retail farmer's market with an additional 10, 000 plus square feet is located to the left hand side of the main entrance. This serves as overflow space for vendors as well as space for special events. Wing Fests, Crawfish Boils, and Chili Cook-offs are just a few examples of special activities to come. You may also arrive to find petting zoos, craft fairs, live music, and fun for the entire family.
Additional buildings house a 12, 600 square foot enclosed retail space which is home to several farm vendors, ice cream, baked goods, jellies, honey, specialty food items, and novelty gift items. A fourth structure is home to a retail garden center, A.B. Seed Company, which is a favorite place to explore With an attached greenhouse, you can find anything and everything you want to decorate your lawn and design your landscape. Indoor plants, gift items, fountains, stones, benches, trees, shrubs, pots, tools, flags, statues, pottery and much more are available to get your creativity going. Staff are available to assist with your planning.
Foster-Caviness Produce, Inc. is also located at the Piedmont Triad Farmer's Market and they provide fresh items wholesale to local restaurants and grocers. Their impressive structure is over 30,000 square feet of cooler and office space. Super Sod is adjacent and offers six varieties of grass to personal and commercial landscapers.
Once you have explored and shopped, take a break at the Moose Cafe Restaurant, also a part of the Piedmont Triad Farmer's Market. For wonderful country cooking and family friendly atmosphere, there is no better place. Fresh vegetables and fruits teamed with specialty items such as chicken 'n dumplings, meatloaf, mountain trout, baby back ribs, pork chops, southern fried chicken and country ham.
