Telluride, Colorado has something for the visitor to enjoy year round. For this article, I'll concentrate on winter sports and activities.

What began as a mining town surrounded by excavation in the surround mountains was transformed into a haven for outdoor sports enthusiasts in the 1970's and continues to flourish decades later. Skiers and snowboarders will find a terrific array of accommodations and some of the best skiing around at the Telluride Ski resort. (And, in summer a spectacular golf course.) The Telluride Ski Resort offers slopes and runs that are suitable for all experience levels from the beginner to even the most expert of snowboarders and skiers. There is also an excellent ski school on the mountain. Other wintertime activities include ice skating, snowmobiling, hiking, dog sledding, fishing, and ice skating under the stars. And, don't forget about snowshoeing and cross country skiing.

After getting sore from a day at the slopes, nothing beats a relaxing dip at Ouray Hot Springs. Enjoy feel the comforting warmth and let the waters relieve all your tensions. These springs remain hot even during the winter, from 96 -106 degrees. You can soak t the several hot pools or go swimming. There are also shallow pools for children. Enjoy a Sleigh Ride Dinner from mid December to March at the Colorado Telluride Hotel. Diners are met by a snowcat-drawn sleigh and you'll revel in an awesome ride under the night sky on the way to to Gorrono Ranch. You'll have a taste of the great Colorado cuisine under the stars on the Gorrono deck. .
