Entering Online Sweepstakes - A Profitable Hobby

Rebekah Haas
A couple of years ago, my sister saw a segment on a daytime talk show where a woman supposedly made a living entering online sweepstakes. I didn't believe it was possible, however, the thought of winning things online did appeal to me, so I started seeking them out and entering.

First, I can definitely say that most people do not make a living from entering sweepstakes. Maybe a couple of people have won large cash prizes and invested them, but other than that, the odds of making a living are probably close to the odds of winning the lottery. So, if you're interested in entering sweepstakes, do not plan on quitting your day job. I have been entering sweepstakes online for approximately two years now, and have not won anything huge. Some people post that they win cars, houses, or big sums of cash-but that has not been my experience (not that I'm giving up!).

My first win was an assortment of items which contained a few really useful items like a Discovery Toys backpack for my son and some Tupperware containers. There was also a little Italian spices gift set that I saved to re-gift at Christmas time. Next, I won a set of organic facial anti-wrinkle and night creams that I am still using up. Last winter I won coupons for approximately sixty 2-liter bottles of Coke beverages.

Anything I have won that I will not use, I save for Christmas presents. For example, one of my winnings was a set of three season DVD collections of CSI. We do not watch CSI, but I was able to give them to people who appreciated them at Christmas time. Other gifted items include a laptop backpack, Itunes gift-cards, and lotions. I won a Playstation game that I sold on ebay for $30.

If you are wondering how to go about entering online sweepstakes, here are a few tips. Seek out websites that actively list all the current sweepstakes. Some may charge a small fee to join, but it is worth it to have them all at your fingertips, and saves you time in the long run. My favorite is online-sweepstakes.com. Another tip is to download Robo-form (a free download) which fills in all your information for you. I only spend my time entering sweepstakes where I am really interested in the prizes, and the prize is something I or someone I know could actually use.

I spend less than twenty minutes a day on average entering sweepstakes, and it has been fun and somewhat profitable. It gives me something to look forward to when the mail arrives, because I never know what I might find. Now, I am just waiting for the big win!

You most certainly can make a living entering sweepstakes! I also own one of those sweepstakes sites you make mention of that provides "...sweeps at your fingertips"... Actually, I feel my method of entry is best for someone like you that only has that 20 minutes a day... as it does not require you search lists, read rules or even search for answers to contest questions. You can achieve entry rates of up to 200 sweepstakes entries an hour, and for someone with 20 minutes a day, that's pretty handy! Anyway, read more about it at
