Beginning July 13th, entertainer and entrepreneur Cornell "Nelly " Haynes is raising awareness on cancer, sickle cell, H.I.V and all diseases and health problems affecting people of color through his non profit foundation 4SHO4KIDS. 4SHO4KIDS is dedicated to improving the quality of life for children with development disabilities emphasizing on Down syndrome and children born addicted to drugs. The foundation assists families by providing educational classes and health care resources in the Saint Louis metropolita area.

Understanding that many families have suffered the losses of loved ones due to sickness Nelly is raising awareness of the importance of our health and how to combat sickness by early detection. Families and children can get free immunization and overall health screenings through July 15th at the 4 Your Family 4 your Health Expo which will be free to the public. The Expo will be held at Clyde C. Miller Academy in St. Louis Missouri. The event will be swarming with various invited celebrities including Patti Labelle, Ludacris, George Foreman and Eve who are all dedicated to the urban initiative on health in our communities.

Director of Public Relations for 4SHO4KIDS, Brittney McKinnies notes that certain diseases disproportionally affect people of color. She confides that the state of health for minorities is at an all time low. With twice the number of minorities dying from diabetes and cancer and 20% more dying of cancer. Both McKinnies and 4SHO4KIDS representative, Darryl Jones believe that the only way to cut down on illnesses and deaths in our community is by openly addressing health issues through education and awareness. "We have to do more then just educate," says Jones. "We have to be pro-active in our communities and learn how to live healthy and stay healthy." McKinnies believes that there are too many of us dying based on lack of education and not knowing the resources available in our communities. "Our primary goal for this expo is to simply increase awareness about healthier lifestyles through fun and innovative strategies," she concludes.

There will be an excellent panel of healthcare professionals on hand to answer any health related questions. Events include seminars, a Jes Us 4 Jackie Bone Marrow Drive, (named after Nelly's sister who passed away) and a workout session with a guest celebrity trainer. Attendees will also enjoy a catered lunch. Children and families can receive free immunization shots as well as other free health screenings. Saturday, July 14th, the fun continues starting with cooking demonstration by celebrity chefs, followed by Youth and Family Day. Youth and Family day will include a summit for teenagers, workshops for parents, and a fun zone for children. Saturday will conclude with a Hip Hop on Health Summit. The summit will consist of a panel of celebrities discussing health issues and initiatives within the community. There will be a surprise celebrity guest on the panel as well. Representatives at 4SHO4KIDS foundation hope that 4 YOUR FAMILY 4 YOUR HEALTH will become an annual event and would like to take the Expo to other cities in the future.
