Entertaining kids this summer while staying within budget could be difficult. Free summer entertainment venues are practically nonexistent. Entertaining thoughts of the good old summer days when kids made their own free fun? Here are a few free budget tips for entertaining kids this summer.

Entertaining budget summer kids fun - Water balloon ball room
Here's some great summer time kids entertainment. Entertain kids by filling a kiddie pool with water balloons. It's not free but it will only cost you a pack of inexpensive water balloons from the dollar store and the kids summer pool they probably already have. Join kids for an entertaining summer fun splash down of your own.

Entertaining budget summer kids fun - Rainbow summer swimming pools
Food coloring is practically free. Add a little to that same kiddie pool for colorful summer kids entertaining fun. To make things doubly exciting, pour in a bit of bubble bath. This is also a sneaky way to get those bats in this summer. Kids will never know that bubbly, colorful entertaining kiddie pool is actually their bath for the day.

Entertaining budget summer kids fun - Library books
Take kids for a once a week trip to the free library. Entertaining kids after a long day in the summer sun can be a challenge. Let kids pick out a stack of books each week for free at the library. Keep them in a budget milk crate for easy return. Kids may even fall asleep to the entertaining antics of their favorite fiction characters and give you a summer afternoon break.

Entertaining budget summer kids fun - Cheap finger paint
Make entertaining finger paint for kids. Mix ½ cup cornstarch with 2 cups cold water. Separate into 6 plastic lidded margarine tubs. Stir a few drops of food coloring into each one. For great summer fun, let kids paint their entire bodies with this budget finger paint. Watching kids rinse off in the sprinklers can be entertaining summer fun for Mom.

Entertaining budget summer kids fun - Old fashioned races and other stuff
Mark off the yard and say go! Kids find racing very entertaining. Set up your own field days for summer fun. Pillowcases serve as sacks for sack races. Hardboiled eggs on spoons for egg races. Budget dollar store jump ropes are great for entertaining tug of war games. Play blindfolded tag. Chances are modern kids will love these old fashioned summer Olympic games.

Running under the hose or sprinkler can be endlessly fun. I rememember doing that as a kid when we couldn't get to the pool. I liked making playdoh w/ my day care kids. The finger paint sounds like great fun & painting themselves outside would be great. Esp if it's followed by sprinkler & swimming pool! Fun article. : )

I wish you were around with those ideas when I was a kid. After a while, running around and pretending to shoot each other with toy guns gets monotonous.

These are great. Too bad my kids are mostly too old for these now. Enjoy them while you can.
