Entertainment and Politics

Today's entertainers have escalated to the summit of immeasurable popularity. They have been positioned in society on a pedestal superior to all. They are even referred to as a celestial supremacy in the heavens, a "star".

News reports about celebrities are given precedence over any other genuine news reports. Society lose their very minds while in their presence. The paparazzi stalk the famous as though they were starving predators after wounded prey.

What is so important about the lives of entertainers?

What is so important about their opinions?

What is the hype all about?

Is it sheer boredom?

I recognize entertainment such as circuses, amusement parks, fairs, trade shows and similar forms of entertainment. But Television, fashion, peoples personal lives?

Have we gotten so lost in connection with the great outdoors that technology, in itself, has conquered actual entertainment.

I understand enjoying the entertainment that celebrities provide us, but beyond simple entertainment, what is really so important about these human beings that some bow down to their very presence.

I'm not implying that entertainment is terrible by any means. However, to go beyond the entertainment, to destroy and interfere with these people's personal lives is revolting. To isolate and alienate these people from society, simply because of their popularity, has proven how much these people influence our nation.

Celebrities think they are capable of running the government when all they are is entertainers. California voted in a celebrity and look where that got them, even though California has the 8th largest economy in the world.

Celebrities are endorsing political candidates. They drop tons of cash to contribute to politicians, like Oprah in Obama's campaign, and some are trying to push the fact that celebrities endorsements do not influence the public's vote.

There are quite a few scientific studies and polls that suggest that this is not the case. But look at the numbers and demographics of these supposed results. Let's ask a few hundred college students this and hold it as truth to all the nation. Polls and studies are bias in their very nature
.

But to even dismiss such possibilities that their endorsements do not ripple through the votes is simply ridiculous. Can you honestly say that?
