Entrepreneurs: How to Keep Up with the Kardashians

Stephanie Modkins
According to rumors, Kim Kardashian was one of the highest paid reality starts of 2010. This diva and her family are cashing in on the publics interest in them. So, how can you as an entrepreneur follow in their footsteps? You can keep up with the Kardashians by . . .

1. Partner with allies.

Who's in you corner? Ask this person to help you launch your dream business. No entrepreneur is an island who can be successful on his own. In the Kardashian clan, the mother supports her children and fights to keep their pockets lined with money. Regardless of their on air disputes, Kris always finds a way to pull everyone together, for their common welfare.

2. Play off your appeal.

What aspect of your business appeals most to the public? Play off of it. On Keeping Up With the Kardashians, the show has focused a lot on the attractiveness of the cast. Considering that Kim is a sex symbol, this focus is smart. The producers know that men (and women) everywhere will tune in regularly for this reason alone. Other factors are a part of this reality hit, but they just act as accents to a successful formula. Use this model for your business too and always maintain a constant flow of clients.

3. Diversify your talents.

Are you a jack of all trades? If so, bank on all of your talents as entertainers. The Kardashian clan does this very well. They act, model, and host. This clan doesn't have to worry about tapping out because they use all of their skills to produce income. You should do the same. Figure out at least two means to support your business idea. This way, your dream will never die.

4. Stay relevant with fans.

Who are your base customers? To keep up with the Kardashians, you will have to learn how to stay relevant with them. Kim Kardashian and her family achieve this goal by doing new spin-off shows, posing for magazines and giving interviews. Since they always stay on the forefront of the news, they remain important to pop culture. You will have to do the same thing. With the help of a good marketing agency, you can figure out how this translates for your business.

5. Admit to your failures.

Have a recent failure in business? Don't try to hide it. The Kardashian credit card did not work out well for this family. And guess what? They admitted to this failure. Of course, their admission won't stop all of their issues surrounding their credit card, but it does show they have some integrity, which goes over well with the public. Therefore, in your mishap, be honest. Take responsibility for your business mistakes and work to correct them. Your clients will appreciate your openness.

Ready to keep up with the Kardashians? Make this year the best one for your business by mimicking their behavior. You don't have to tell anyone you're doing it. It'll be a little secret that keeps you in the green.
