In the company's press release, Steve Semos, Epson's product manager stated, "Our newest generation of Ultra Hi-Definition products produce legendary professional-quality photos, yet are easy enough for anyone to use. Each model has an abundance of intelligent, automated technology that eliminates the guess work for consumers, such as automatically turning dark, overexposed or faded images into brilliant photos or correcting red eyes. In combination with our Claria inks and wide-range of Epson papers, these prints can last until the 23rd century."
Ultra High definition prints, as Epson stated over at their website, are photos produced by high definition printers that have richness, depth, and clarity. Epson uses Claria ink for their Ultra high definition printers and the company's proprietary MicroPiezo print head which, according to Epson, creates multiple ink droplet sizes to achieve smooth gradation and greater tonal range.
According to Epson, the Epson Style R280 can print 4 x 6 photos in as fast as 11 seconds, black text at 37 pages per minute (ppm) and color text at 38ppm. The R280 can also print directly to CDs or DVDs, has 6 individual cartridges (Black, Cyan, Light Cyan, Magenta, Light Magenta and Yellow), built-in auto photo correction and face detection, resolution of 5760 x 1440 dpi (dots per inch), supports Exif Print and PRINT Image Matching, USB 2.0 connectivity and runs on Windows Vistaâ„¢, XP Professional x64, XP, 2000, and Mac OS X 10.2.8, 10.3.9 - 10.4.x or later.
The Epson Stylus RX595, according to Epson's product page, is a multi-function ink jet printer that has a 2.5 color LCD, supports printing directly from memory cards, USB flash drives, and cameras, has a maximum resolution of 5760 x 1440 optimized dpi, has copying speeds of up to 37 cpm, optical resolution of 1200 dpi, 48 bit color scanner bit depth, can scan documents to PDF without the need of a PC, and has connectivity options of USB 2.0, Bluetooth, or PictBridge. The RX595 also has 6 individual cartridges and supports direct to CD/DVD printing.
The Epson RX680, according to Epson, has all of the features of the RX595 except that it has a printing speed of 40 ppm for black and color text, copying speeds of 40 cpm, and has additional features like two paper trays, duplex printing, and auto photo correction with preview.
Epson's Ultra High Definition printers are already available at Epson's website and costs $99.99 for the Epson Stylus Photo R280, $149.99 for the Epson Stylus Photo RX595 and $199.99 for the Epson Stylus Photo RX680.
