Equate Daily Glow Moisturizer - Not Exactly the Right Glow

Laura Hickey
Now more than ever there are warnings everywhere regarding the sun's damaging rays and the increased risk of skin cancer involved with tanning. There are some benefits to having a tanned look such as looking slimmer. It also can help to camouflage stretch marks and cellulite. If you don't want to give up the luminous glow of a tan, now there are many different creams/lotions on the market.

One product I tried was the Equate Healthy Glow Daily Moisturizer bought in Wal*Mart. The lotion comes in a 7.5 fl oz golden cap tube. The product claims it creates a healthy glow all year and moisturizes. There are two shades to choose from: Fair and Medium skin tones.

It contains natural ingredients such as avocado fruit extract, oatmeal extract and olive fruit oil. Upon opening the tube, there was a ring of lotion inside the cap that contained a shimmering gold color. The scent isn't too strong but isn't the greatest smelling lotion out there. When applying the lotion, it comes out white and absorbs fairly quickly into the skin. The product suggests waiting several minutes before getting dressed. Also you may experience the lotion feeling a bit sticky when you first apply it. I wouldn't suggest going out shortly in high humidity as the lotion may become uncomfortable. After a while from application, the stickiness went away.

Within hours of applying the lotion there is a slight darkening of the skin. Three days into using the product there was streaks of a dark orange color in certain spots. There were darker streaks around the nooks around the knees. It's a good idea to be in a well light room to ensure there isn't too much lotion in one area.

After one week there was a more tanned skin tone but still blotches of an orange brown color. Not exactly the glow I was looking for. As far as the moisturizing aspect, there wasn't much difference in my skin. The good aspect is the product didn't cause any irritation or any breakouts.

The Equate product does give skin some color but it can be frustrating trying to avoid the streaks of different colors. This item wasn't too bad on price. It was a little less expensive than the well-known Jergens Natural Glow Daily Moisturizer at costing $3.97. Keep in mind the cost may vary from time to time. I would rate this product as okay. The only place you can purchase this product is in a Wal*Mart.

I actually seem to like this product.
Its much cheaper then the regular kind of product, I put it on, wait a few minutes, put on different lotion (gets rid of the stinky from the one applied before)
I have notice a huge difference.
The only spots that did end up turning orange was inbetween my fingers but what i have been doing is washing my hands right after i apply the product and i notice the orange spots go away
