Equate Extra Strength Acetaminophen Pain Reliever/Fever Reducer Review

Sophie Spyrou

Dealing with pain is never much fun. It is distracting and can also be debilitating when you cannot get on with life with ease and comfort. Brand name painkillers can work great at eliminating pain quickly and effortlessly, but so can many generic brands. Is Equate extra strength acetaminophen pain reliever/fever reducer effective at combating pain?

Product Information

Equate extra strength acetaminophen pain reliever/fever reducer contains 225 red tablets, all 500mg strength. They are small, which makes them easy to swallow, and they are sweet coated, rather than bitter.

Warnings

Equate extra strength acetaminophen pain reliever/fever reducer contains acetaminophen, which can cause liver damage if you take more than 8 tablets in any given 24 hour period. This is the maximum daily dosage, which should not be exceeded. In addition, Equate extra strength acetaminophen pain reliever/fever reducer can also cause liver damage if you drink 3 or more alcoholic beverages every day while taking this product. With that in mind, it is important to read the warning label and to take this medication exactly as prescribed.

Drug Uses

Equate extra strength acetaminophen pain reliever/fever reducer is intended to temporarily relieve minor pain associated with arthritis, headache, premenstrual and menstrual cramps, muscular aches, backache, the common cold and toothache.

Does it Work?

I have used Equate extra strength acetaminophen pain reliever/fever reducer to help cope with the odd headache and menstrual cramps. Although this brand of painkillers comes in extra strength, I did not always experience fast-acting relief from my symptoms each time I needed pain relief. It actually felt as if I had taken a much lower strength painkiller, as I had to wait for the painkillers to kick in. But the good new is that they do eventually work at relieving pain.

Recommendation

Equate extra strength acetaminophen pain reliever/fever reducer is a fair product that does offer some relief from minor aches and pains, but it is not something I plan to buy again in future. For a product claiming to be "extra strength", I was expecting almost instant relief from pain, but this product took a while to kick in. If you are looking for an extra strength pain reliever or fever reducer, I would not recommend this product.
