Ergotron 45-174-300 Monitor Mount Review

I wanted to do The Ergotron 45-174-300 Neo-Flex Desk Monitor Mount Review because it has been such a saver for me. Being disabled, I work and write mostly from bed, and laptops tend to get warm, heavy, and constraining when you have them sitting on your lap in bed. After my Laptop died, I went back to a desktop computer and found my working solution with a wireless keyboard and mouse, (much lighter and cooler than a laptop), and a monitor mount that enables me to position the LCD monitor in front of me at a wide variety of angles, or simply swing it out of the way when I need to get up or down.

The Ergotron 45-174-300 Monitor Mount is very sturdy and stronger than I imagined. I has the Vesa compatible standard mounting bracket along with an adapter for the secondary standards. The base mounts to a desktop, table top, or in my case a shelf with a rubber coated clamp so the desktop will not get scratched and it does not slip. It also comes with a couple of alternative type clamps for the bottom jaw of the clamp. At the top of the clamp is about an 8 inch arm that pivots allowing you to move the monitor assembly closer or further away in a rotational fashion, and at the other end of that arm is another arm that also pivots from it's position. The second arm also has the ability to raise and lower with the push of a button allowing for height adjustment, and the mounting end of the second arm also has a universal joint type pivoting adapter allowing you to change the angle of the monitor, and the portion of the universal joint that attaches to the monitor also has a 360 degree pivot so you can rotate your monitor from landscape to portrait orientation.

The Ergotron 45-174-300 Monitor Mount will hold monitors from 15" to 22" so it will fit just about any desktop or home/small office needs. It assembles quickly and easily and once you loosen or tighten the pivot points to your needs, it seems to stay at those adjustments and doesn't loosen from use as might be expected from a cheaper unit.

The Ergotron monitor mount runs about $80 from Tiger Direct and has the following additional features:

flexibility: 8 inch vertical adjustment and monitor positions in all directions
Strong: 18 Pound Capacity
Mounting standards: attaches to VESA 75mm or 100mm bracket pattern
Wide clamp: Clamps to surfaces up to 2 inches thick
Sturdy: strong enough to hold touch screen monitors for use

I liked mine so much, we purchased a second one for my wife, so both of us now have the ability to work comfortably, even when we can't get out of bed.
