Erin Andrews Peephole Video Scandal Finally Yields Arrest

The Erin Andrews peephole video set the Internet on fire, but no one took credit, since the Erin Andrews peephole video was illegal. But finally, the Erin Andrews peephole video mastermind was reportedly arrested. According to news outlets like the New York Post - which helped further the Erin Andrews peephole video controversy - the peephole video director was finally caught by the FBI last night. With that, Erin Andrews finally has a specific person to blame for her peephole video infamy.

This past summer, Erin Andrews went through Hell after the peephole video of her changing in a hotel room became a massive Internet hit. Her criminal complaint cited that she had a hard time sleeping and breathing after she became a voyeur victim.

But now, the FBI believes they have nabbed the Erin Andrews peephole video creator, as they arrested 48-year-old Michael David Barrett yesterday at O'Hare Airport. The New York Post says that he was arrested for interstate stalking, and that the FBI believes he was staying in the room next to Andrews on the night the video was made.

Barrett was reportedly undone in two areas. The first was that he stayed in the room under his own name. The second was that he allegedly tried to sell multiple Andrews peephole videos to TMZ - which the gossip site turned down. But the FBI was able to trace Barrett's phone calls to TMZ back to him.

One of the major theories behind the Erin Andrews peephole video was that an ESPN employee might have done the deed. Others mistakenly believed Andrews was behind it in order to get more exposure. If the FBI arrested the right man last night, then both theories would be proven wrong.

With Andrews back at work as a sideline reporter for ESPN, and with the peephole video mastermind allegedly caught, her road to recovery is taking a big step forward. Of course, with each new development in the scandal, it is more likely to revive the search for the original tape - although by now it is either off line, or likely to give users a virus.

TMZ, at the least, is coming off well for not accepting Barrett's offer to post more tapes. Other media outlets like FOX and the New York Post were less reluctant to post pictures of the peephole video, and even brief clips of it.

Barrett was taken to Chicago federal court to be arraigned today, while Andrews has a work day for ESPN college football.
