Erin Andrews Peephole Videos and Erin Andrews Peephole Pictures: Setting the Record Straight

Rochelle Connery
So let's get one thing straight about people searching for Erin Andrews peephole videos, peephole pictures, Rapidshare links, and so forth. They think if you take Erin Andrews' side in the peephole incident, you're a feminist, and a sad excuse for one at that. If you think she got what she deserves, you're all of a sudden their best friend. What's that all about?

I typically try not to go the extra mile to insult my readers. But if they think insults in my direction are going to change my mind about Erin Andrews, they can forget about it.

Now I'll admit, Erin Andrews wasn't necessarily doing all she could to prevent something like this. For one, standing naked in your hotel room for several minutes (unless you're hired for a few nights by a United States governor) is not typical for most women I know. Besides, at 29 years old, she's far too old for a governor.

For one thing, most hotels I've been in barely have curtains enough to cover the windows. I wouldn't have been a bit surprised if someone on the opposite side of the hotel would have taken pictures and video right through Erin Andrews' hotel window, but I don't know the status of the curtains in her room, so maybe that wasn't an option.

As for her physical appeal, I get it, okay? I wasn't born yesterday. I know full well ESPN wouldn't hire someone who looks like Joan Rivers to report on men's favorite sports. On the other hand, just because someone is tall, blonde, and beautiful doesn't mean they're always "asking for it" when it comes to sexual exploitation. That's the typical mentality of a rapist, people. I'm not asking you to give her the benefit of the doubt, just treat her with the mindset of a non-criminal.

Is there a possibility it was an inside job? Of course there's that possibility. Not everyone watches ESPN enough to know Erin Andrews walking down the hotel hallway and think "Gee, maybe I should take some video through her... peephole?" Plus, according to TMZ (not necessarily the most reliable of sources, but hey, what the heck) the video was shot in two different hotels. There's no doubt the pervert could have been an ESPN employee. But was she "planning it?" I tend to doubt it.

Finally, are people just like me who write these articles exploiting Erin Andrews for profit? Maybe. Though unlike those of you who just keep searching for the video and keep giving yourselves a Trojan virus, we see a writing opportunity, we take it. It's carpe diem for article marketing. Don't think we're just writing to shape public opinion for the benefit of mankind. But contrary to hackers who seized the opportunity for Erin Andrews peephole videos, at least we're not dishing out viruses in our articles. So keep up your negative, foul-mouthed comments. I'll keep laughing my way to the bank.

But one thing is for sure: just because I defend Erin Andrews a little bit does not mean I am a feminist. Far from it, actually. But do I recommend other women act like Erin Andrews? Hardly. I hope you're a little smarter. Erin might have brains when it comes to journalism and reporting, but evidently not too much common sense. You'd think anyone would know better than to wear their birthday suit while curling their hair and ironing their pants. It's a burn hazard.
