Erin Andrews New York Post Peephole Pictures: Shown in Disgust and Outrage

Erin Andrews Peephole Pictures (Black-barred with Strategic Appropriateness)

The New York Post has published Erin Andrews' peephole pictures. The Erin Andrews peephole video story might seem like a tawdry bit of tabloid news (not that the New York Post is a tawdry tabloid) but it certainly is getting plenty of press. It also stands to reason that the New York Post would want to run articles about the invasion of privacy of Erin Andrews in her hotel room. The Erin Andrews peephole video story is a phenomenally popular story no matter what angle one takes. But the New York Post has published Erin Andrews' naked peephole video pictures under the guise of outrage -- black-barred in all the appropriate places, of course.

The Erin Andrews peephole video pictures are shown adjacent to a story that pays lip service to disgust, outrage, and shock at how Erin Andrews' naked form has been illegally captured and posted to the internet. While drenching the story in adjectives that show just how disgusted they are, they lambaste the "pervert" and "sicko" for his criminal behavior. And while the New York Post rails against the "creepy cameraman," they make certain that the blurry peephole images of Erin Andrews (black-barred out in the appropriate places) are there to reinforce just how "creepy" the cameraman actually is. And while the reader is drawn into the story of Erin Andrews privacy being invaded by the cameraman behind the peephole, the story lets us know that Erin Andrews is "sexy," that the video was of a "naked, attractive blonde," and calls her a "sideline siren."

Yes, it is apparent that the New York Post was disgusted with the "horrifying incident" and that they thought the cameraman was "creepy" for filming Andrews naked and posting it onto the internet. But apparently it was not apparent enough, so the Post displayed pictures (with black bars strategically placed over appropriate areas) of his "creepy" work.

But the entire article wasn't just a slick way to post Erin Andrews' naked peephole pictures in the New York Post (black bars appropriately placed). Besides the salacious adjectives and the lip service condemnation, the basic story was told of the Erin Andrews peephole video ordeal, how it was uploaded onto the internet, how the ESPN sportscaster issued a warning that the perpetrators would be prosecuted when caught, and how hackers took advantage of the popularity of the story to plant links to webpages with viruses.

The New York Post also threw out some new information as well. It seems that the peephole video might have been taken in an Omaha, Nebraska hotel room while Erin Andrews was there covering the College World Series. Omaha Police, however, say they have not had any complaints filed with their department so could not confirm the story.

Still, it is a story that one should read, if just to get a good look at a great example of hypocrisy at its journalistic best.

Honestly, I couldn't care less about the article in question. Whoever wrote this one repeated themself over and over and over using the same lines that it was almost unbearable to read the whole thing. Learn how to write an article or don't write!
