Erin Baker's Original Breakfast Cookie in "Fruit & Nut"

The Pen
Recently I've tried a few of the flavors of Erin Baker's Original Breakfast Cookies. I liked most of the flavors I've tried so far, Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chunk Raisin, & Banana Walnut and I've been sticking to those. But yesterday I became curious about the company's Fruit & Nut cookie. Even though I assumed it'd be kind of gross I decided to try it anyway.

Taste of
Erin Baker's Original Fruit & Nut Breakfast Cookie

Because this cookie's called "Fruit & Nut" I expected it to contain a lot of random fruits and nuts and to be heavily spiced, but I was relieved to find that it just tasted like an ordinary oatmeal raisin cookie, because the only fruits present in this were raisins and apricots (I could barely taste the apricots) and the only nuts present were the occasional walnut.

Even though I wouldn't describe the flavors as exotic, overall I really enjoyed the taste of this cookie. It's sweet and the prune puree gives it a fig-like taste, but the cinnamon makes it taste a bit spicy too. And since all of the ingredients are natural, to me, it just tastes a lot fresher and purer than other brands.

Texture of
Erin Baker's Original Fruit & Nut Breakfast Cookie

The cookie is extremely moist and chewy, it's so softly baked that there's no hard or crisp texture to this at all. It can be toasted if you want to make it firmer, but my cookie was so soft that it broke into 3 large pieces before I got it home.

Even though I like chewy style cookies, this one is way too soft and doughy tasting for me to really enjoy straight out of the package.

In the End...

The Erin Baker Company claims that this cookie can be eaten as a substitute for breakfast, but it's too sweet for me to eat first thing in the morning, but I think it's great to enjoy as a snack (toasted) because the flavors are great and it's healthier than most oatmeal cookies. I give it 4 out of 5 stars.
