This 73-year-old grandmother gives new meaning to growing old gracefully. Skeptics may say that she is unique or has some special gene or uses some sort of drugs. In my humble opinion, it was her self-discipline, dedication and sincere desire to achieve her goals that enabled Ernestine to succeed in her quest to lose weight, tone and strengthen her body.
She is an inspiration to anyone that is unhappy with their physical appearance. Her body makes a clear statement about aging. Getting old does not have be all downhill. If you eat healthy food and stay active you can maintain strength and vitality. One cannot argue that the body will age over time, but this grandma is proof that how we live can make a big difference in how we age.
Deciding to start exercising is the first step, and an easy one to make. However, sticking to it and being determined and motivated enough to reach whatever goal we set for ourselves can be extremely hard. There are so many things that can distract us and cause us to give up. Finding the time can be problematic for many people who work or have children and families to care for. But thirty minutes a day might be all one needs if they are consistent.
Not seeing the effects of our efforts in the mirror or on the scale fast enough can be discouraging, but that should not be a reason to give up. You may have heard that changing one's body takes changing one's lifestyle for ever. Well, doesn't that sound more realistic than those infomercials that promise rock hard abs in minutes a day with very little effort.
Ernestine Shepherd made a decision long before she turned 70, and she stuck with it. She made the time and put forth the effort needed to change her body. Perhaps, it might be best to forget about fat burning pills, and save your money. And why spend thousands of dollars on plastic surgeries that may have serious side affects.
