Ernie Haase & Signature Sound: "Dream On: Live from Chicago" DVD
Following a humorous video with Haase, along with quartet members Ryan Seaton, Doug Anderson and Tim Duncan debating over how the group should open the show, EHSS take the stage with "Right Place, Right Time," the jazzy opening track from the Dream On album. The set list is comprised almost entirely of songs from Dream On, including the title track, "Sundays Are Made for Times Like These," "My Heavenly Father Watches Over Me" and my overall favorite, "Reason Enough." The group's performance of Frank Sinatra's "My Kind of Town" on this DVD is also used as the closing track for the Dream On CD.
The New Friendship Youth and Young Adult Choir joins EHSS for a couple of songs, "Dream On" and "Rockin' Jerusalem." Dixon, along with the Jessy Dixon Singers, joins the quartet on "Operator." He returns, along with the NFYYA Choir, for the show's closing tune, "We Need Each Other." Pierce delivers the clean brand of stand-up humor that become her trademark, some of which comes at the expense of Haase and his Signature Sound co-horts.
Dream On: Live from Chicago delivers an exciting hour and a half-plus of music, comedy and ministry from Ernie Haase & Signature Sound along with guests such as Jessy Dixon and Chonda Pierce. Having seen EHSS perform live, I know this DVD captures perfectly the energy of the quartet's live show. This release is recommended for fans of gospel music as well as for anyone who loves good music of any style.
