Erykah Badu Introduces 'New Amerykah Part Two' CD Single in the Nude

Kanye West and 50 Cent's had a fake rivalry to trick people into buying their CDs, but they don't have a thing on Ms. Erykah Badu. Her new CD, "New Amerykah Part Two: Return of the Ankh," released today, and she's been a trending topic on Twitter all Tuesday. But it's not the new CD that got everybody's attention, even though it took her two years to release the second part after "New Amerykhah, Pt. 1: 4^th World War." So what got neosoul and Twitter users' attention? Erykah Badu's piece-by-piece clothes dropping in her latest video, "Window Seat."

Erykah Badu gets out of a car and slowly takes off clothing items piece by piece-sunglasses, her jacket, her shoes, a purple hoodie and her white see-through T-shirt. There's a puzzled look from a mother walking with a kid, but that doesn't stop her. She's at it again by stripping off her pants, then her bra to fully expose her "Evolving" back tattoo and then her underwear. Boom. A fake gunshot fires and she lands on the ground. Passersby are completely stunned, but the funniest bystander was the guy at the beginning of the video who runs behind her to pick up her clothes. Expect those to be sold on Ebay soon.

Although Erykah Badu is clearly breaking the law by stripping nude, she made sure to pay the parking meter before she started undressing. And after she falls on the floor, a recording of her voice plays that says the following:

They play it safe, are quick to assassinate what they do not understand. They move in packs ingesting more and more fear with every act of hate on one another. They feel most comfortable in groups, less guilt to swallow. They are us. This is what we have become, afraid to respect the individual. A single person or event or circumstance can move one to change, to love herself, to evolve."

At the end of the video, a naked Erykah Badu walks toward the video camera with a wig full of braided hair decorated with yellow and white beads.

Those of us who have already been desensitized to her contumacious attitude and constant need to stand out from the crowd will just say, "That's just Erykah Badu" and shrug. Those who aren't familiar with her will probably be stunned, disgusted and complain. Then there's that middle group who will be so caught up in amusement that they won't even consider the small children watching her strut her stuff. After I picked my jaw up off the keyboard, I laughed and thought, "How did Erykah Badu get all that booty on such a small frame?" I see why Common and Andre 3000 stuck around so long.

I love her creativity. As far as being naked, you have to admit that it was one hell of a publicity stunt.
