Escape to Massachusetts for a Summer Weekend in June

Regina Sass
The perfect way to start off the summer is to take a quick summer escape weekend in June to some of the best that Massachusetts has to offer. Everyone is ready to get out and do something by the time June comes around and why wait until school is out when Massachusetts has so much to offer that will only take a weekend for you to enjoy. And you do not have to live in Massachusetts, these are great summer weekend escapes for anyone from anywhere.

Take a summer weekend escape back in time to when knights and ladies dined with the king and jousting was the sport of choice. The Silver Kingdom's Renaissance Faire is held June 2-3 and 9-10, 2007; 10 am-6 pm at120 Northside Rd, Charlton, Massachusetts 01507. There will be three stages with constant entertainment, plenty of food from hot dogs to fish and chips and you can wash it down with a good mug of mead, or soda. And craft vendors with renaissance crafts that will make a good memento of your summer weekend escape. You can even get involved in a mid evil battle. And for the kid, there is the Children's Garden with their own games and competitions. Come for one weekend or come for both, depending on how much of a summer weekend escape you need.

Another summer weekend escape back into time is the Boston Harborfest, which takes place June 28th to July 4th. More than a weekend, you can just come for the weekend and have a good time and escape from the everyday routine. Of course, if you can take more time, you can make your weekend as long as you want. This is Boston's official July 4th celebration and you can go back to the time of the Revolution and even participate in a Revolutionary war Re-enactment. July 2nd is Children's Day, with special free events, you can vote for your favorite chowder, concerts every day and dozens of other things to see and do. This one will make your summer weekend escape, a mini vacation and it is an excellent choice for anyone who have never visited Boston, Massachusetts.

For the movie lovers, there is a weekend of films at The Provincetown International Film Festival, June 13th to 17th. Another one where you can decide how long a weekend is. You can come just for the official weekend and enjoy having breakfast with the industry professionals and learn just what goes on behind the scenes, join in the sing-a-long and attend the Festival Awards both on Saturday and on Sunday you can attend the Closing Night Party and HBO Audience Choice Awards. If you have a chance to pop in earlier, you can attend A Night at the Drive-in on Thursday and the Opening Night Party on Wednesday. Provincetown is just over 60 miles from Boston, at the end of the Cap Cod, Massachusetts Peninsular.
