Unit Of Study - Prepositions
Behavioral Objective - The students will be able to describe and demonstrate the location of objects using prepositional phrases.
Aim - What are some commonly used prepositional phrases? (See vocabulary list).

Motivation - I will have the students stand up. I will give them a set of commands to follow.
1. "Stand in front of your desk."
2. "Stand behind your desk."
3. "Stand beside (next to) your desk."
4. " Stand between teo desks."

Procedure -
1. First I will do my motivational activity.
2. We will discuss the activty.
3. We will come up with a list of vocabulary words that are prepositional phrases.
4. I will write them on the board.
5. I will ask the class if anyone knows what a place setting is.
6. We will discuss what makes up a place setting.
7. We will add the words to our vocabulary list.
8. We will discuss what else may be uncluded on the table when we eat.
9. I will pair up the students to share a place setting.
10. We will talk about the rules of handling a place setting.
11. I will pass out the pieces of the place setting.
12. As I pass out the pieces, I will give the commands using prepositional phrases.
*Place the fork on the table.
*Place the spoon on the table
*Place the plate between the fork and the spoon.
*Place the napkin under the fork.
*Place the straw in the cup.
13. I will be walking around checking each place setting.
14. I will call on volunteers to describe their place setting using a prepositional phrase.
15. For a writing assignment, the students will have to write eight sentences describing the place setting using prepositional phrases.
16. I will collect the place settings.

Materials - palstic spoons, forks, plates. cups, napkins, and straws.

Homework - When the student go home, they will have to choose objects in their house. Using prepositional phrases, they will describe their locations in sentences. They will have at least eight sentences.

Follow -up - We will review Questions with Where; Prepositional Phrases. For example: Singular - Where is the computer? The computer is on the table. Plural - Where are the keys? The keys are in the drawer.

Evaluation - I will have a picture of a place setting drawn onthe board. The students will write eight prepostional phrases we discussed previously. Each piece of the place setting must be included.

Standards We Are Approaching -
ELA Standard 1 - Students will read, write, listen, and speak for information and understanding. They will be using diagrams, following and giving directions, and following a procedure.
