Essence 2008 "Do Right" Men

Good Gawd All Mighty, They Fine!!!

Break A Leg!
In this era of Internet dating, the Bachelor/Bachelorette and other so called hook-ups, I truly appreciate the consistency of Essence magazine's annual "Do Right" men contest. This contest features men who are doing great things in their communities and are proactively trying to make this Earth a better place for all. Sexy, single and seemingly sane men doing right. It's a pleasure to know they exist because these are not the stories you'll hear on the evening news.

No, you will not hear the story of Lamman Rucker (of "Why Did I Get Married" - - the one Jill Scott got in the movie) who is amongst this cavalcade of incredibly gorgeous, industrious and single men. He is a special kind of gorgeous all by himself. Did you know that he is an AIDS activist and studies martial arts?

My eyes immediately fixated on a "Mr. Do Right" from Waldorf, Maryland. His name is Robert Mohn. Mr. Mohn is 43 with a smile that could make a Monet melt from envy and let's not forget the pec's. Mr. Mohn is socially conscience, well traveled and will send his lady flowers just because it's Tuesday.

I did view the rest of the pictures and bios of the men who are a part of this contest and was baffled. Mr. Mohn had only 1.5% of the votes. Lamman only had 12.6% and R & B singer, Jaheim, only had 1.9%. So my question is, does anyone know about the contest and if so, DID YOU SEE MR. MOHN'S PHOTO GALLERY??!!!! For the love of God the man is trying to make the world a better place for us all, he is a world traveler and has pec's you could wash seven loads of laundry on!!!! I'm not campaigning for you to vote for him. LET THE PICTURES GUIDE YOU!

Here's a question for Essence. Can you do a "Ms. Do Right" contest and then have Bachelor/Bachelorette series? Seriously. If those caliber of men are out there and are single and women are constantly complaining about not being able to find a good man, you have a Blackberry filled with so much potential to build many happy relationships. Yes, I am willing to relocate. And as much as I hate snow Mr. Mohn has convinced me to think about (at least a weekend) trip to Maryland!

Anyway, if you would like to vote for Lamman Rucker, Jaheim, Mr. Mohn, a few other members of the Tyler Perry broadcasting family or a slew of other socially conscience and incredibly attractive men, go to http://www.essence.com/essence/dorightmen and cast your vote.

One last question, why wasn't Tyler Perry featured as a contestant? Will there be a Mrs. Perry making a debut soon?
