Essential Back-To-School Supplies for Grades 1-4

Must Have School Supplies for the Elementary School Student

Aliyah Spears
Dear parents, once again It's time for back-to-school shopping. Here is a list of school supplies your children will need. It is not an all inclusive list but a basic list for what most elementary school students need starting out the school year. In your local paper you will notice many sales for school products at unheard of prices! Rulers, pencils and erasers can be as low as .09 cents apiece. As well, composition books, pocket folders and highlighters often sell for about .33 a piece. It makes sense to really stock up when prices are this low*.

Whereas, this list is circumscribed to the basic requirements starting out, it would be wise to buy in bulk for later in the school year. Sales for back-to-school supplies start again in January. However the discounts will be nowhere as steep as you will encounter right now, through mid September. Besides, once your children actually start classes, some items will get lost and most will be used before the school year is over. Send your children to school having adequate supplies on hand back at home. It will help your child to be a success and help him or her to know the importance placed on education. His or her respect for learning is engendered now during the developmental stages. Take advantage of that and promote a healthy interest in his or her learning by giving your child all the tools he or she needs to succeed.

A Word of Advice
Just a reminder. It would serve your child well to open a small bank account that he or she can "manage" him or herself. Allowing the child to make deposits and watch the savings grow now, makes an impermeable impression that lasts a lifetime. He, and particularly she, need to learn early the importance of putting away some money and assets for the future. This will not only be good for your child, but as well, will help to make America's economy stronger tomorrow. Invest in your child's future for the promise they hold, for they are God's gift to the world.
