Essential Purses for the Closet of the Fashion Forward Woman

Ashley Mott
Handbags and shoes seem to be the items that most frequently find their way into the shopping bags of women across the country, even when they are not needed. Even the best of us can have a closet full of purses and still see a magical mixture of leather and metal on the rack and have to have it. Those are "want" purchases. In between all of the handbags purchased because they couldn't be resisted, however, there is room for purses to be bought because they are essentials for the wardrobe if you operate in relatively busy business or social setting.

The Clutch - Evening Wear

The clutch is most frequently thought of as the quintessential evening gown accompaniment. Sequins, silk, satin, and clasp closures are the mainstay with evening wear clutches. If you attend a lot of parties, at the very least you should consider investing in a sleek black clutch that can be paired with almost anything.

The Clutch - Day Wear

The clutch can also be used in the daytime as well. Many designers offer clutches that work well for daily use for women who carry a minimum of accessories throughout the day. An additional alternative includes carrying a small clutch of essentials inside your larger purse. If you need to take a satchel or a tote bag to the office, you could pack your clutch inside and then take it to lunch and leave your tote behind to make your time out of the building more pleasant.

The Hobo

The hobo bag never disappears because it perfectly bridges the gap between a clutch and a larger purse. The shoulder strap of a hobo makes it comfortable to carry on the shoulder for longer distances as well as to carry in the hand with a casual ensemble. A hobo is typically the perfect size for holding a wallet, cell phone and a few additional accessories that are relatively small in size. Hobos come in a variety of styles, so you can use one both business and day to day activity.

The Satchel

The satchel style handbag is the favorite of many petite Hollywood starlets like the Olsen twins and Lindsay Lohan. The bag usually dwarfs these smaller women. However, they go for an extremely large satchel. A mid-size satchel is more normal looking in comparison to body size and offers a lot of room. Most would comfortably hold a larger wallet, a cell phone, a make-up bag, a small bottle of lotion, an mp3 player and more depending on your needs. The satchel is pretty versatile and, like the hobo, comes in styles that make it fine for the workplace and more casual use. Be sure to pick a class material and color for a satchel that will predominantly be used in business though.

These four types of handbags are four of the essentials for your purse shelves in the closet. With one of each of these bags you have all of the sizes you need for a variety of activities and types of days. The rest of your shopping can be left to taste not need!
