Essential Tips for Traveling on Your Summer Vacation: Part 3

Pack Your Baggage Smart and Efficiently

Paul Cabrera
Have fun at your vacation and don't worry too much about packing! Speaking from personal experience and a lot of traveling, anything that can go wrong most likely will go wrong. The perfect vacation might not be possible, but minimizing whatever stress will help your vacation be, well, more of a vacation. The following is part 3 of my luggage packing guide. Please search for " 4 Essential Tips for Traveling on Your Summer Vacation" on my profile page. Enjoy!

1. Put your shoes into plastic bags

Don't have your clothes get dirty from your shoes. Some places sell bags specifically for this purpose. My question is why spend the extra money? Rather than wasting that cash, a simple placing shoes in grocery bags does the trick.

2. Anything that can leak, most likely will leak (or at least make the assumption)

I am a great advocator of Ziploc bags. Anything that is liquid or can leak, put it in a Ziploc bag, especially common stuff like sunscreen. I was forced to learn this lesson multiple times. I once had gel spill over all my clothes and everything else inside my suitcase. It left all of my clothes with a distinct orange tint, at least it smelled good.

3. If you are one who travels often, have your toiletry bag well equipped between each trip

Cosmetic bags are good to put toiletries in, as they have a convenient strap and can be carry-on.

Remember to buy extras of everything: cotton, gel/hairspray, qtips, etc. Miniatures of everything works well for travel. Ziploc bags make a good alternative to cosmetic bags.

4. Make and place a written list of toiletries

I know this sounds a bit overboard, but I know it works well. I was one who would often forget the same thing whenever I traveled anywhere. Why can I never remember to pack a razor? Now, each time I pack my luggage, I simple check my list of toiletries and I am finished. Simply tick off each item on the list, and I'm sure to never forget.

5. Pack some emergency medicine for accidents and ailments

My first-aid pack has Tums, Imodium, Band-Aids, gauze, antibiotics, etc. Custom your first-aid kit to be prepared for any emergency.

That's it! Enjoy your trip since you are now well prepared. Remember, this is part 3 of 3, be sure to check out the other two sections of my guide if you haven't yet.
