Essentials a Digital Scrapbook Kit Should Include

Carrie Lowe
For most people who enjoy digital scrapbooking the biggest thrill is in getting a huge pack of new digital scrapbooking pieces. Trying to ensure that you are getting a kit that is worth the money is very important, especially with the large number of freebie kits that are around to choose from.

Typically speaking, the absolute basics that a digital scrapbook kit should include is:

Papers in several different styles and colors. While some kits can include upwards of 50 or more papers, others might include only six or so. The overall quality of the paper that is included is just as important as the actual number of papers. After all, what good does a huge kit of papers do for you, when it's something that you will never actually use?

Elements are an absolute must; these are the finer details that give your digital scrapbook page that extra oomph. Things such as brackets, bows, cutouts of people or objects and other similar things are all considered elements. Typically, digital scrapbook kits are very heavy on elements. It is very common to see as many as 100 elements included with a very cheap kit. If you are paying a significant amount for the kit you can expect to see higher quality pieces included, more detailed pieces, as well as often many more elements included.

A good digital scrapbook kit will also almost always include at least 1 set of alphabets. This will also typically include the basic punctuation marks as well so that you can quickly and easily tie in a brief phrase or blurb into the overall look of the digital scrapbook page that you are working on creating. Most of the good scrapbook kits will include as many as two or even three different alphabet sets, or alphas in them in various colors, or even styles.

With the wide variety of pieces that are included in most typical scrapbooking kits it is really easy to create a large number of scrapbook pages that all have a similar theme, without actually using any of the same pieces repeatedly. This can allow you to really enjoy and best use a digital scrapbook kit without feeling, as it is just money wasted. For the typical person it is easy to become addicted to the fun of acquiring a huge collection of scrapbooking kits, but knowing what is actually to be expected inside of each kit will make it much easier on you to really choose the proper kits for your needs.
