Alpacas Kentucky
Kentucky is a good location for raising alpacas because the climate is mild, but not terribly hot in the summer-especially at the higher elevations. The Appalachian Mountains is an excellent area for alpaca farmers. For many, raising these fine animals can be like having a high-yield savings account. There are tax savings galore for those purchasing the expensive breeding stock. And the daily running of a farm. Some people have even dropped out of corporate America and its stress to enjoy the peaceful farm life and to benefit from the money to be made in this business. The wool itself is valuable and shearing takes place yearly or bi-yearly. Each animal can supply enough wool in a year to make many sweaters. The animals appreciate and if they are bred, they offer a free way to make money from an increasing number of animals. Even their dung is valuable as a high-grade fertilizer! At present there are only 100,000 registered alpacas in the entire U.S., so there's a huge market worldwide for their valuable wool. Several farmers in Kentucky have good web sites and interesting features. Alpacas are expensive, with females going for $10,000 and up and males about half that price. Suppose that 6 new babies are born in a year. That can mean from $30,000 to $60,000 in very low-maintenance profit for the lucky farmers!
