Estelle Getty, who was best known as an actress on the TV show "Golden Girls," died on July 22, 2008. She will be missed. She gained fame as the sharp-tongued mother, Sophia Petrillo, to Bea Arthur's character "Dorothy" on the Golden Girls. It was reported that Estelle Getty suffered from advanced Lewy body dementia before passing.

Estelle Getty was an actress for over four decades. She seemed to pick up speed with each passing decade. When she was hired to perform on the "Golden Girls" TV show, she was paired with well-known actresses Bea Arthur, Betty White and Rue McClanahan.

The Golden Girls won the "Pop Culture" award from TV Land Awards in 2008. Estelle Getty was 84 years old at the time of her death from Lewy body dementia.
