Ed Rendell, the governor of Pennsylvania, made a trip to East Stroudsburg University to talk with the president of the university and students about more scholarships. But the governor was met not by the president of the university but by students and staff protesting the cover up that has happened on their campus.

What caused such an uproar on campus, including a huge group of students and staff holding signs stating things such as "Rape Sweet Rape, Cover-up". Students are upset that there was a cover-up on their campus. Law states that any thing that happens on campus involving the safety of the students must be told to all students. But student after student was molested on campus by the vice president of the university and no one knew about it. This could of stopped quickly but it was supposedly covered up by the university by the President himself. Now the only details these students are getting our from the few articles that make the papers. The poor students who has become victim to this predator, could have been stopped if action had happened quickly after the first complain. Yes, the vice president had been fired but there is money missing from the scholarships fund and many students wondering how this could of happened right under their noses.

The president did not show up to the meeting but many staff members and tons of students were their to try to find out answers. Ed Rendell did make a decent attempt by addressing the students and saying that he will try to get his own investigation going if need be. He took a few student questions and then got back to his original agenda. Many people left that meeting feeling as if they made very little impact. Including feeling disappointed that the president of the university himself did not show up to the meeting.

Overall the students on campus feel a mix of emotions. They have lots of questions and some feel less safe now. This was a great school to go to located in the middle of the beautiful Pocono's but now a stigma is attached to this college. With the recession making such an impact and scholarship funds missing, the school will definitely be effected financially. Students will be unable to attend the university due to lack of funds and with the reputation it now has many incoming freshman might make a different choice of school. The governor did try to help with his speech but until the university talks, students are going to feel very unsure of this school.
