Ethnic Cleansings in Los Angeles - Why Aren't You Fighting a Battle Against Real Racism?

Chadd De Las Casas
Hate crimes are targeting young, black Americans right now. True, and real, despicable hate crimes that put black American children in danger. If the first thing that comes to mind is a small town in Louisiana, you should be ashamed of yourself. There is no excuse for the amount of saber rattling thrown at Jena as there is today, when 18 year old black workers, young honor students, and anyone else in the "wrong neighborhoods" are being purged by aggressive gangs bent solely on ethnic cleansing.

Things have gotten bad in Los Angeles - so bad that gang related murders have shot up 15% this year alone as an aggressive surge by opposing gangs to root out the blacks of Los Angeles has taken hold. Fourteen year old Cheryl Green was murdered while playing on a skateboard. The Observer Guardian highlights just how frequently opposing gangs will target young, black girls for extermination in the hopes of driving black families off their turf.

Where are the marches? Where is the outrage? There are only two possibilities I can think of for why the black community has stayed its hand and neither one bodes well for the alleged new "civil rights movement". Either the lack of outrage is because of a genuine fear of retaliation by those cleansing Los Angeles of the black ethnicity, or more deviously, the absence of a white antagonizer is just enough for them to decide that, hey, maybe there isn't any racism involved. After all, without whites, how can there be racism against blacks?

Unfortunately, all modern politically correct terms aside, black children are dying. They aren't misinterpreting jokes gone awry. They aren't getting harsher sentences than you would approve of after ambushing a fellow student. They are dying - they are being attacked in the streets, murdered in their homes, shot, stabbed, and killed because of their ethnicity.

Does the absence of ropes mitigate the racism involved? Because there are no nooses dangling from trees, the southern symbol of prejudice and hatred, the specter of intolerance doesn't exist in Los Angeles? Maybe it's because the city council has decided to ban the use of the word "nigger" - that must be why the tragedy of Los Angeles is being overlooked.

But the situation gets even more dastardly - as Mayor Villaraigosa has remained steadfastly silent in the face of these killings. A man whose entire career is bent around pandering to Latino minorities does not surprise anyone with his silence in the face of this inhumanity, but where are the Al Sharptons? The Jesse Jacksons?

This is not a suburban malaise, this is not a white man whose spent his whole life around other white men not liking the black guy at work - this is a genuine series of racially motivated killings.

Is this not racism?

Is this not worthy of protests and marches?

At the time of this article's publication, there are no current articles on Associated Content about the ethnic cleansing. Those who have taken the mantle upon themselves as defenders of the black cause have remained as silent as the mayor that allows it to happen. What are they writing about, one may wonder?

Condoms, Bootlegged Movies, and Blogs about Jena, Louisiana
This white male who looks upon this ethnic cleansing with disgust suggests that one stops beating the drums of Jena for a little while and focus on a real calamity. Justice has shown itself, the Jena Six aren't going anywhere.

So why don't we try to stop horror and mayhem in its footsteps?

Because the last big case of ethnic cleansing prior to Darfur was in Kosovo Jeff, which was in a former Soviet sattellite state. Anyhow, your darling Soviet Union isn't coming back, no matter how many people Putin kills to make it so.

Interestingly, I covered that in my other article, MasterPro, "How the American People Are Giving Osama bin-Laden What He Wanted"

MasterPro-I'd be interested to hear more about your situation.

I am ALWAYS so angered by Shamontiels comments. First off, HIV/AIDS affects evryone, but in MOST cases, it is the person who contracted AIDS fault due to their personal decisions. In your article, you are writing about events that are out of the victim's control. Excellent and informative article! By the way, there is no way the Jena 6 individuals shouldn't be imprisoned. The fact that we even have the denotation of "hate crimes" is stupid. Either they are crimes or not, regardless of who they are against.

To be honest, no, I find it callous, disgusting, and hypocritical. Worst of all, I find it downright dangerous.

Deez... I've noticed she is good at personal attacks. She can slam people left and right, but then tells you that if you are going to resort to personal attacks (rather than discussing the issue at hand on her terms) she will delete your comments... like how she tells chadd that he disgusts her. It's typical of her type though.

Because former Soviet satellites are generally the furthest from typical law because of the void caused by the Iron Curtain. Therefore if we have to hear about ethnic cleansings, it needs to be in these lawless areas, not major American centers.

Oh, and ps...why does your photo caption say ethnic cleansing is something we should hear about from former Soviet sattelites? Resurrecting the Soviet boogeyman gets tiring. Every region of the world has had it at one point, very much including the U.S.

The problems of Los Angeles are myraid and troubling, and yes, very often, racially motivated. That said, however doesn't let the south off the hook. Your right it all needs addressed. It ALL needs addressed. In a way, it is as cut and dried as you put it, but Los Angeles also represents the worst of what America is, very divided. By culture and class just as much as by race.

    Thanks.
