Etsy Interview with E.B. Beads
First off, tell me a little bit about yourself.

My name is Ellie, and I make jewelry on Etsy. My shop name is E.B. Beads, and I've only been on Etsy for four months. Even though I've only been on Etsy for a couple months, I've been making jewelry for a while. Five years to be exact. I love to make colorful items and express my creativity. I always like to try new things. I'm always trying to teach myself how to do a new type of jewelry or to make something different and unique.

How and when did you start making jewelry and your other items?

When I was nine, my great aunt taught me how to make memory wire bracelets. She would make jewelry and I would watch her. Finally I asked her how and she taught me. After that I taught myself how to make everything else. I named my shop E.B. Beads because my dad always calls me El Bell and it was sentimental to me. My twin brother actually came up with the name for me. Normally, when I would start a new hobby, I would drop it within two months. Before I made jewelry, I cross stitched, knitted, painted, sketched, water colored, and bedazzled. I have been making jewelry for the longest of all of my hobbies.

When and how did you originally find Etsy?

I found Etsy when I was shopping at a craft store, and one of the employees told me about Etsy. I did a lot of research and found out that Etsy is a great option instead of craft shows or Ebay!

What is unique about Etsy and what about the website do you like the most in regards to your shop?

What I like about Etsy is that I can have my own shop, but if someone searches for "bracelets" my items will also show up. I also like the simplicity of selling items and buying items. It is very user friendly. I also love that it is all handmade items. The down side of all the other websites is it's a lot of commercial items.

What inspires you the most in regards to your creations?

Honestly, other people's jewelry inspires me the most. When I see something beautiful, I want to go on and top it. Also, new beads also inspire me. When I get a ton of new beads, I can make jewelry for hours! Once I was up till midnight making jewelry and I still thought it was ten o'clock.

What is your favorite piece you've created and why?

That is a hard question! Everything I make I love. But, if I had to choose, I'd say my favorite piece was one I sold the other day. It is a pink and clear memory wire bracelet. I liked it the best because of the way it sparkled in the sun light. It reminded me of stained glass. Plus, it's one of my favorite colors!

What do you want to accomplish with your online shop?

I would like E.B. Beads noticed and become a popular shop on Etsy. Another goal is to turn my hobby into a career. I want to be able to move to New York City, and set up a shop there. There are so many possibilities that Etsy can help me accomplish!

Do you have any new creations in the works? If so, what can shoppers expect to see from you soon?

I have a lot of creations coming soon! More beads, more colors and more styles! I am always making new jewelry! On average, I upload two to five pieces a day, if not more.

Where can readers find out about more information regarding your jewelry and other creations and possible special offers (including additional websites, blogs, facebook, etc)?

I don't have any other websites, but I am always at craft shows. My next craft show is on September 7th and 8th at The Colden Sun Kissed Hills Craft Show. Thanks for reading!
