Etsy Interview with Grey Goose Gifts
First off, tell me a bit about yourself.

I'm the creator of Grey Goose Gifts. I started making jewelry a few years ago after a lifelong passion for it, I came out of the womb wanting my ears pierced. I moved to Austin, Texas several months ago after being a funeral director in Cincinnati for 10 years. Here in Austin I am pursuing this dream of jewelry by doing an internship at the Creative Side Jewelry Academy where I have access to a full studio and tons of amazing jewelry classes and I am surrounded by some amazing artists. It is most definitely my happy place.

How and when did you start making jewelry and your other items?

I started making jewelry a few years ago. My first class was a beginning soldering class and from there I was hooked. I slowly started selling things to my friends and then later decided it was time to open an Etsy store.

When and how did you originally find Etsy?

My friend came to visit from Colorado and he showed me Etsy and I then cursed him for making me go broke. This was long before I made jewelry and had no clue that one day I would be selling my own wares on Etsy. there is so much talent on Etsy and you can always find the perfect, unique thing that you are searching for.

What is unique about Etsy and what about the website do you like the most in regards to your shop?

What's unique about Etsy is that it is a community of very creative people and there truly is something for everyone. As far as what I like about Grey Goose Gifts is that I can make it what i want to. I get to make jewelry that i want to make and if other people like it, that is icing on the cake. Also, i have met some awesome people through my shop from all over the world and that is very cool.

What inspires you the most in regards to your creations?

I tend to be drawn to very simple and organic shapes. I love nature and draw a lot of inspiration from that. I like the imperfect. I also love very clean lines and mid century modern design. My goal is simple beauty.

What is your favorite piece you've created and why?

This is a hard question! I love the organic o's collection. They are very soothing to me. They go well with everything and there are some different styles and sizes in my shop. Some days I like something dainty and delicate and some days I like a bigger statement piece. My current favorite is 5 organic o's linked together on a sterling silver chain. I haven't put it up on Etsy just yet because i have been too busy wearing it but I will put it up there soon!

What do you want to accomplish with your online shop?

In many ways I am accomplishing what I set out to do with Grey Goose Gifts which is make jewelry that people connect to. I absolutely love to see someone wearing a piece of jewelry that I have made, it makes me very happy. I once saw a stranger in Whole Foods wearing a necklace of mine and i was on cloud 9, that is a very cool thing. But my bigger dream would be to make Etsy my day job and turn this jewelry business into a career.

Do you have any new creations in the works?

Why yes I do! My brain is always moving to the next thing, and I want to do rings. Start looking for some stacking rings, etched designs, and of course organic shapes. I also want to do some stamped initial pendants. Down the road I would like to do some bezel set rings and I am also working on a stud earrings collection.

Where can readers find out about more information regarding your jewelry and other creations and possible special offers (including additional websites, blogs, facebook, etc)?

I have a facebook fan page for Grey Goose Gifts and i will be sending out email newsletters to anyone that is interested, just give me your email address to be added to the newsletter.
