I am busy being a mom, wife, college student, and running my jewelry business. I enjoy all aspects of my life, although they may be stressful at times. At the end of the day, after I have fulfilled my daily obligations, I relax by creating Lady Adorned Jewelry.
How and when did you start creating your jewelry?
I have always been creative. I am a passionate about jewelry making. In my early 20's I would make jewelry for my friends and family. As time progressed I taught myself different techniques in jewelry making and learned about various gemstones. I found my niche and began to feel comfortable in what I was making. After becoming a new mother I stopped working so I could stay at home with my son. At night after he goes to bed, I settle down and make jewelry for pleasure. My friend being a shop owner suggested I start selling jewelry in her shop, so I did. As time progressed I turned my hobby into a business and so began Lady Adorned Jewelry.
When and how did you originally find Etsy?
With the positive response of my jewelry sales, I decided to look for other venues to showcase my products. I have a friend who sells on Etsy and suggested I do the same. I was so excited at the thought of being a part of such a fabulous website. I opened Lady Adorned Jewelry on Etsy in December of 2009 with hopes of introducing my jewelry to customers worldwide.
What is unique about Etsy and what about the website do you like the most in regards to your shop?
In a cookie cutter society full of chain stores I am happy that Etsy exists. It is a venue of opportunity for customers to find original items and for artists to display their work. I love having a shop on Etsy for several reasons. The number one reason is because it it allows me to showcase my jewelry to people worldwide. It is also equally important to me that I am affiliated with people that love to create and share their work with others. I enjoy the freedom I have on Etsy in regards to running my own shop. There is flexibility in being able to create the look I want.
What inspires you the most in regards to your creations?
When I make jewelry I always think of simple, timeless pieces; Jewelry that can be worn with sweatpants or on a night out on the town. Beautiful gemstones and color inspires me. I see colors in nature that I like to use while making Lady Adorned Jewelry. Since moving to Florida I spend a lot of time at the beach and I draw inspiration from the colors I see there: like aqua water, coral, and golden sunsets.
What is your favorite piece you've created and why?
The Golden Chandelier Earrings adorned with Aqua Chalcedony, because the stone is so elegant and they remind me of the ocean. They are also the first pair of earrings I decided to keep for myself.
What do you want to accomplish with your online shop?
I hope to make timeless jewelry that customers treasure and enjoy wearing.
Do you have any new creations in the works? If so, what can shoppers expect to see from you soon?
I always am creating new designs and finding new gemstones to incorporate into my jewelry. I like to use seasonal colors and I am always coming up with new ideas for Lady Adorned Jewelry. I try to post new items every week on Etsy.
Where can readers find out about more information regarding your jewelry and other creations and possible special offers (including additional websites, blogs, facebook, etc)?
I wish I had more time to advertise with media sourcing, but at the moment I don't. I am hoping to expand Lady Adorned in the future.
