Etsy Interview with My Mom's Jewelry

My Name is Ilana Barak. I live and create in Israel. Actually I was born here. My professional degree is in architecture which is also my main occupation. I'm married and have two wonderful daughters.

How and when did you start making jewelry and your other items?

Since childhood I love to create a lot of things like: bags, clothes, jewelry and more. Jewelry I start to create intensively almost tow years ago.

When and how did you originally find Etsy?

My daughter Galit Barak is a jewelry designer; she was the first one in our family to know Etsy. Galit have a very successful shop in Etsy and she helps me to open mine a year and a half ago. That's the source for the name of the store: My Mom's Jewelry.

What is unique about Etsy and what about the website do you like the most in regards to your shop?

Etsy cause me to create lovely items and being belong to a large community who create wonderful things with favor relationship between the members. For example the Treasury creations are a win win situation.

What inspires you the most in regards to your creations?

Usually the material makes me an aesthetic pleasure, so I wanted to work with and create piece of jewelry that will be useful accessory for women will wear the same jewelry she flattered.

What is your favorite piece you've created and why?

There are several techniques for creating jewelry which I developed. One of them include first part planned technique but the result of the second part is random and surprising.

What do you want to accomplish with your online shop?

I want customers to come back to visit the store and see what's new in it. I would like to be recognized and be appreciated.

Do you have any new creations in the works? If so, what can shoppers expect to see from you soon?

Yes, I have new pieces I'm working on them. One type includes lace jewelry for which I am trying to find new high-quality raw materials and combine them in interesting new compositions. Also I intend to include more items in the store include semi-precious stones.
