Etsy Interview with Purple Toes Jewelry

My name is Donna Ryan and I'm the creator of Purple Toes Jewelry, an Etsy shop for some great jewelry pieces. I live in Frisco, Texas. (North of Dallas). I am a Mom, and retired about 3 years earlier than planned, so since I had retired earlier than planned, I began thinking of what to do to keep me busy. My daughter having such a great eclectic style always searched for really unique antique earrings. On our searches one day I decided I bet I could make these since they were hard to find...and I ended up loving hand-crafting jewelry. I also adore decorating our home, and hanging out with our adult kids and two dogs... (we have a 21 year old daughter and a 26 year old son). I have been married 28 years and am happier in my life than working in the corporate world.

How and when did you start making jewelry and your other items?

As stated, in January of 2007 after being laid off earlier than the awaited 2010 year, I began working on the jewelry as a result of loving to make things and decorate, so originally it was for my daughter and then I found Etsy

When and how did you originally find Etsy?

It was a matter of searching for antique pieces to decorate and make jewelry with. It wasn't long before Purple Toes Jewelry was born.

What is unique about Etsy and what about the website do you like the most in regards to your shop?

It is easy for me to just follow the clicks to make my own site and a place that people were already drawn to.

What inspires you the most in regards to your creations?

Most definitely my daughter inspires me when it comes to Purple Toes Jewelry. She has a very artistic unique style and I follow and search out thoughts and ideas from watching her style.

What is your favorite piece you've created and why?

Probably the Steampunk pieces, because they are extremely different and unique.

What do you want to accomplish with your online shop?

Actually I am accomplishing what I want, a carefree, fun and easy way to make some extra money, I can work as hard or as little as I want, being retired.

Do you have any new creations in the works? If so, what can shoppers expect to see from you soon?

I love working with hearts, pearls, flowers and feminine items...I love making charm necklaces. So I have some of these designs in the works that shoppers will certainly see in my shop sometime in the near future!
