Etsy Review: Candles by Marla Offers Hand Poured Scented Soy Candles at Affordable Prices

Marla from Candles by Marla has always had an interest in hand making a variety of things. Her father used to bring home many handmade craft kits for making candles, sewing, stained glass making, and more. Marla's passion for creating and making handmade items has been used through her daughters' childhood and then they left for college. Marla decided to start doing handmade art projects again to fill her "empty nest" with fun and excitement. All it took was a candle making kit and Marla decided to make this passion her business. I received a few soy candles from Candles by Marla and I was very impressed for a variety of reasons. I received four different scented soy candles and they came in a variety of sizes. My first impression was that I was in love with the visual aspect of these soy hand poured candles. Every candle has a very vivid and vibrant color that is just beautiful. These colors are peeking through Candles by Marla's frosted glass jars that are breathtaking. I do not believe that I have ever seen a candle sold in frosted jars and it really adds a touch of elegance. The scents were very intense when I received them and each soy candle scent could be smelled throughout my home when it was lit. When not lit, you could still smell the scent of the soy candle in the room that the candle was in. Here are more detailed reviews of each soy candle and the jars that they are in:

Gingerbread Baking- This is a beautiful vibrant fall leaf orange/brown colored soy candle that smells like gingerbread! This comes in a gorgeous hexagon frosted glass jar and is an 8-ounce candle. This is a 100% natural soy wax candle and it is a hand poured candle, as all Candles by Marla are. I found this soy candle to have a strong scent before it was even lit and the vibrant color of this candle is so beautiful. Right off the bat, I get a nice gingerbread scent and then it has a vanilla note that comes in after the gingerbread mellows. I got many hours of burn time out of this hand poured soy candle and I was very impressed overall. I have burned this soy candle a little over half way down and the candle is scented just as strong as the day that I received it. The frosted hexagon glass candle jar is something that I think is really unique and beautiful.

Violets & Lilies- A frosted jar glass candle that is 6 ounces of a beautiful violet colored soy candle. I am a huge fan of floral scents but I dislike ones that smell like floral perfume. This Violets & Lilies soy candles smells as if you smell a beautiful bouquet of violets and lilies. I have burned this soy candle down all the way and it smelled true to scent for the 2-3 weeks that I had it. This is a lighter scent than the other candles but it still did a great job at scenting a large area of my home.

Sunset (On The Porch) - This bright red colored 6 ounce soy candle was my favorite of the soy candles that I received. The smell is pretty hard to describe but it really just remind me of sitting on the porch on a sunny day. I get a slight floral note and that is the only thing that I can pick out for sure. I really enjoyed this soy candle and I highly recommend it. This has a pleasant and complex scent that mellows together into a great soy candle scent.

Pumpkin Custard Spice- This is a 10-ounce soy candle that comes in a frosted bean-pot jar with a lid. These jars are uniquely shaped and I love that they have a wonderful saying on both sides of the glass jar. You can choose from the following three sayings on your bean-pot candle:

"Home - a house is made of wood and stone, but only love can make a home"

"Family - a family is a circle of friends who love you"

"Love - a heart that loves is always in bloom"

Each soy candle jar has the bold word on one side of the jar and then the remaining phrase on the opposite side. The writing is white and in a beautiful and elegant font. The scent of this soy candle was a miss for me personally. I did not get any notes of the scents mentioned in the name of this soy candle. To me, it smells identical to butterscotch. It is important to remember that everyone gets different scents out of one scent so you may smell it and be able to smell something completely different.

I also love the fact that each of the soy candle scents from Candles by Marla has a story behind the name of scent. Each scent was made in reference to an event, a person, or a request from a special person. I find it interesting to know that there is a reason for the name of each soy candle.
