Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum Product Review

Formerly the Eureka Quick-Up Hand Vac

Kassidy Emmerson
Note: The Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum used to be sold under the name "Eureka Quick-Up Hand Vac". WalMart, for example, still carries the former. So if you go to check out this product for yourself, be sure to look for both names. On the box of mine it reads in small letters, "Previously Sold As Quick-Up".

I had been using a Dirt Devil brand hand vacuum that I purchased a few years ago. I used it to clean carpeted stairways and other small areas. It was a bum buy. As soon as the filter got a little dirt and dust in it, the machine lost a lot of suction. Then, you had to stop cleaning to empty the dirt cup and clean the filter. Even with a clean cup and filter, I had to run over dirt and debris a few times before the Dirt Devil would reluctantly pick it up. I don't remember the model number of this Dirt Devil, but the company discontinued it. With that being said, I wanted to replace the wimpy Dirt Devil. It had to be easy-to-use and affordable. And, most important of all, it had to be powerful! I needed a hand vacuum that would suck-up all the dirt the Dirt Devil had left in my carpet. Read this Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum product review and find out all about it.

Price and Availability
I found the Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum on eBay for $39.00. Expect to pay somewhere between $39.00 - $48.00, depending on where you buy it.

Product Description
The Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum is a powerful little machine. As you can see in the photo, it has a roller brush with a Riser Visor. It's especially handy for sweeping vertically on carpeted stairs. What persuaded me to buy this product, was its two motors. One powers the roller brush while the second powers the suction. You can turn the roller brush off if you wish. The Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum has 5.5 amp suction. Yet, it only weighs five pounds.

Other features include an easy-to-dump dirt cup with a filter. This machine has a long twenty-foot power cord so you can plug it in and move around with ease. The Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum comes with a crevice tool for those hard-to-reach places.

Test Results
This machine comes ready to use, right out of the box. Even though I knew my last hand vac was a dog, the first time I plugged the Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum in and turned it on, I was shocked to see how fast the dirt cup filled up. Out of habit, I stopped and emptied the cup, but I didn't have to. It still had plenty of suction power.

Conclusion
I highly recommend the Eureka 71B Hand-Held Vacuum. I've used it several times now, and I still haven't found anything I don't like about it. It's lightweight, easy to use, easy to store, and it's powerful. What more could you ask for?
