European Getaways: Top 'Must-See' Cities when Visiting Europe

Europe, with its unique culture and old history, is always interesting no matter how many times you visit the region. Listed below are some select cities for you to possibly explore or revisit, if you have been there before. Remember that with each visit comes something new to treasure and experience.

Paris, the capital of France, is its' largest city. It is immensely popular with tourists, with approximately 45 million coming in every year. With the famous Eiffel Tower as its' main attraction, it is no wonder why tourists flock to France. But there are other landmarks of interest in this popular place, some of these being the Arc de Triomphe, the Place de la Concorde, and The Sacré-Coeur Basilica. The music, the restaurants, all these add to the grand ambiance and the overall appeal of the famous city.

Lisbon is the largest city of Portugal. With its rich architecture and various churches dotting the landscape, it seems that wherever you look there is something to see. For the lover's of art, there is the Gulbenkian complex. The artworks in this complex feature Persian and Egyptian art. There are also music and ballet presentations from time to time. Though it is not a very large museum, it houses a substantial amount of ancient ceramics on display from the Middle East. It also boasts of the best collection of Lalique Crystals if you are into glass sculptures. But if you are into something simpler and are of different tastes, a train ride to the coast to enjoy Lisbon's beaches is always on offer.

Florence on the other hand is the capital city of Tuscany, and is famous for its art and architecture dating back to the Middle Ages and the Renaissance. It is actually better known as the "Cradle of the Renaissance", because of all the architectural marvels in it, namely its monuments, churches and buildings. Just walking around Florence is a tour in itself, so better be prepared, and plan where you want to go.

Berlin, Germany's biggest city, is famous for the "Berlin Wall" which once divided East Germany from West Germany. Within it are some famous universities, research facilities, orchestras, and personalities. But sometimes, what tourists fail to notice, are the lush green surroundings, the trees, the places where one can relax in this remarkable city. There are also beaches, and beautiful lakes that add to the variety and charm that is Berlin.

Whichever city you choose, or if you decide to see them all, there is always something special to see or to experience, you just have to open your eyes, relax, and enjoy the moment. Have a happy trip.
