Evel Knievel is Remembered

Matthew McConaughhey Amongst Mourners

A.L.C.
Fans and admirers from all over the world converged on the town of Butte, Montana to say farewell to one of the most original folk heroes in history. Actor Matthew

McConaughey, who hosted a History Channel program about Evel Knievel, paid tribute to the daredevil who passed away earlier this month at the age of 69.

The Reverend Robert Schuller of California's Chrystal Cathedral officiated over the burial of the stuntman. He had earlier baptized Knievel in April. Also in

attendance was Smoking Joe Frazier former Heavyweight boxing champion of the world.

The burial took place in Butte's Mountain View Cemetery , Knievel's hometown.

Just about everyone everywhere has heard of Knievel's exploits including his spectacular crash at Cesar's Palace where he almost lost his life but was paid 1

million dollars and bolstered him to fame and glory. He jumped his famous red white and blue motorcycles over buses, trucks, sharks and fountains all over

the world. He is also remembered for attempting to fly over Idaho's Snake River Canyon in a rocket propelled motorcycle.

Upon his 1800 pound tombstone are inscribed Evel Knievel's seven "words to live for."; Faith. health. Education. Love. Work. Honorability. Dream.

He is also known to have remarked about his hard living ways,"You can't buy your way into heaven and you can't buy your way out of hell. So you might as well

spend your money here."

And he did. There will never be another like him. He was clever and tough as nails. He will be missed. Hopefully his final landing from the ramp of life is a

gentle one. He deserves it.

There will never be another like him! I know he was from Butte, Montana. He was either brave of foolish but he lived by his beliefs and he acted on what he wanted to do.
