Even Dr. Pepper Knows, Slower is Better - Slower is Better

Jim Kelly
We live in a society now that is based on who can get information the fastest and who can use the information the fastest. Everything we do is quick, fast, and expedient. We want to drive fast, have a fast Internet connection, get the girl faster, succeed at a young age, do everything faster than everyone else. We have simply just lost the art of moving slowly. Maybe if you take your time and think about it, you'd understand that slower really is better.

Men and women are two different creatures, men love things fast and women usually tend to enjoy the slower more romantic things. Are you striking out with the girl of your dreams? Maybe you're coming on to hard and bringing too much. Slow down, be mysterious, and when you finally land the girl, let the romance build slowly. Anticipation makes the experience even better.

One thing that we love as human beings is power. How to we attain power? Money. How do we attain money? Some people earn their wealth way too quickly and don't appreciate the hard work that went into gaining all of it. If you work hard for awhile and succeed over a longer period of time you'll be less apt to waste the money on things you probably should spend it on. Interested in playing the stock market on line? Don't look for the quick hit, look for the long term investment. Don't trade every day, in fact skip a few days. The outcome will be more rewarding and larger.

Ever sit down in front of the television with way too much food on your plate and devour everything in front of you? So have I. I sometimes can't seem to help it, I'm engrossed in the program and just want to eat everything in sight, not even noticing the amount of food I'm eating until I finish and can't stuff another morsel into my mouth. The fact is, healthier people take more time eating their meals than unhealthy people. The reason? They eat slower to determine when they are full easier. When you eat too quickly you trick your body into believing you're still hungry at a point when you're not. When you eat slow, you know when it's time to stop.

I've gone through three and a half years of college and I know that cramming for a test is not the best way to get the best grade. What is the best way? Over time spread out what you have to absorb and read slower. You're brain can understand more when you take it in at a slower pace. Besides, studies show that our brains are hard pressed to retain new information after the age of 25.

Cool. Of course, if you do take a slower approach to life, Murphy's Law will punish you with a shot of cancer :-)
