Ever Pet Beefy Tip Dog Treats: Review

Chen Salis
My dogs are treat eaters from way back when, as the old saying goes. I would go as far as to say, my dogs have tried almost every treat available on the market these days. The last time my mother came over to visit she brought a bag of dog treats along with her. While these treats are inexpensive, they were also a hit with my four legged friends. In this product review I will focus on the Ever Pet brand made by Dollar General Beefy Tips dog treats in an effort to help other dog owners find an affordable treat that their pet might also enjoy.

For one dollar you can purchase a seven ounce resealable package of Ever Pet Beefy Tips dog treats at Dollar General Stores. This store brand is very similar to Canine Carryouts, a popular and inexpensive dog treat available at a wide assortment of retailers. Ever Pet Beefy Tips are a ideal sized treat for a variety of dogs, and this is a soft and meaty treat that most dogs will enjoy.

I want to take this opportunity to gently remind some people, whom I refer to as dog food snobs, that not everyone can afford to spend ten dollars on a bag of gourmet dog treats. It never fails, when I write a review on an inexpensive pet food or treat, there is always one person who comments that "This food is crap, or, I would be surprised if your dog is still alive after eating Ol' Roy dog treats." In this time of economic recession, it is really difficult for some people to make ends meet, and pet ownership in a recession is a tricky situation for some of us. Let's be honest, if some of the inexpensive pet treats were really that bad for your pet, would they still be sold? Also, it is not like anyone who loves their pet enough to reward the dog says "Oh, I could afford a higher quality dog food and treat but who cares?" Simply put, people purchase what the can afford and times are tough on everyone. Assuming your pet is healthy and regularly visits the veterinarian it is not going to cause your dog pain to eat a less expensive brand of dog treats. Honestly, how many people eat generic labels and live healthy lives? You might be surprised.

I was impressed with the Ever Pet line of Beefy Tip dog treats, they are a good value and a good occasional treat for any dog. I would consider purchasing this brand any time money is tight and I would be likely to recommend the Ever Pet line made by Dollar General Stores to other pet owners.

I'm sorry to be a naysayer, but the Everpet brand is dangerous. I don't know about the treats in particular, but the dry dog food has made my dog throw up on multiple different occasions. I know it was the food because I used a different brand in between the times I tried it. Within minutes of eating it my dog would vomit white foam. I looked up the brand online and apparently it does this and worse to a lot of dogs. It has plastic in it from China. I can't afford expensive dog foods either. Right now I'm using Nutrish which is slightly more expensive, but if you're really broke I'd recommend Old Roy. 7 bucks for a 20lb bag

Yeah I buy it and mix it with pedigree and yeah the stuff in it may be gross to read but they seem to like it and the vet says they are all 3 in good health

I bought a bag of EverPet Beefy Tips for my dog and took a look at the ingredients:
"chicken, corn syrup, soy flour, wheat flour, corn starch, water, propylene glycol, animal digest, animal fat, calcium sulfate, soy protein concentrate, sugar, beef, salt"
That is only listing three lines down. Look at all the sugar! I think I could just bake some sugar cookies for her instead. I even took a look at the ingredients list on a few of the Ever Pet foods while I was at Dollar Generalx and saw that the first line or two had tons of fillers like various "types" of corn, pulps, etc. I see so many people buying this just because it's cheap, but I can't even begin to imagine how unhealthy it is for their pet. I'm not the type of person that will buy the most expensive food on the market, but I don't think I could ever knowingly feed my dog EverPet dog food.

People love to talk other people down when they don't buy their dog a $60 dollar bag of food. That's ridiculous. My dogs eat everpet and sometimes get more expensive food mixed in, but their still living and healthy.
