Depending on what season you going to go to Alaska will depend on what you can and can't do. There are really only 3 seasons in Alaska and that is Summer, Winter, and Break-up season. In Summer it is going to be about the same temperature as in most normal states in the North. The only thing about Summer that is really different is that the sun is up for about 2 weeks out of the Summer so that is cool. It can get hot but it is not unbearable. In the Winter it does get very cold. It can get as low as -70 at night and you are probably not going to go out and do to much then. Now the Winter is the complete opposite of Summer and there is about 2 weeks of complete darkness. Break-up season is cool because it is around 40 degrees and all the snow starts melting.
Now if you are going to go in the Summer you can find plenty to do such as site seeing, camping, hiking, and just walking around the town. It is very quiet and pleasant and there is very little crime. The winter you are limited because of the cold but you can also go site seeing and watch the Northern Lights dance around in the sky. The wildlife is amazing and the moose are really big. Do not hit one of them with your car because it will total the car you are in. If you are going to drive around in the Winter just keep in mind that they do not use salt in the Winter because it will freeze so they just put rock down and plow a little bit.
If you have enjoy fishing there is plenty of that in Alaska and same goes along with hunting. You can visit the North Pole near Fairbanks, Alaska and you can see actual reindeer. There are plenty of mountains to explore and there are also a lot of fishing tours and also hiking tours. You can also watch the Air Force F-16's and A-10's taking off right outside of Eielson Air Force Base just south of Fairbanks. It is really a vacation for people that just want to get away from real life and live care free for a few days. I hope that you like this guide and if you decide to go I hope you get the relaxation you are seeking. I know when I lived there it was fun and in the Summer it was even better because with the sun up you can go off of 4 hours of sleep. Keep Alaska in your mind when you decide to take you next vacation.
