Everclear in Concert

Everclear Live

Silly Puss
I went and saw Everclear one of my all time favorite bands live in concert last night and this is my review.
Everclear a rock band who was formed in Portland Oregon in 1992 consists of
Art Alexakis- lead vocals, lead guitar
Johnny Hawthorne-Rhythm guitar, backing vocals
Freddy Herrara-bass guitar, backing vocals
Sasha Smith- keyboards, piano
Jordan plosky- drums percussion

They played at the Chance Theater in Poughkeepsie NY this was their second time playing there. It was a nice little bar and theater and the crowd was full enough without being too overcrowded. They came on a little late but let's face it that happens often at concerts. From the moment they got on stage to the moment they left they rocked. The music was spot on as was all the vocals. The started off with So Much For the Afterglow and ended it with one of their best ever songs; I Will Buy You A New Life. They played several songs from their earlier years and a couple more recent ones, including one off their new album called At The End Of The Day. That was my favorite song of the night. Never heard it before I usually have to hear a song a few times to like it but this became an instant favorite.

Art got the crowd involved without overdoing it which I really enjoyed. Sometimes I think that the singers get lazy and want you to do the work singing for them, but this was not the case here. One of the best things about the concert was Johnny Hawthorne, he played a mean guitar; doing a couple solos without overdoing it as is the case with a lot of guitar solos. The show was a bit short, that was my one and only complaint. Afterwards though Art Signed autographs and took pictures with the fans and yes I got my autograph and picture taken with a really big cheese ball grin on my face. He was very nice and personable to everyone. A lot of times bands forget why they are there and just sing and play the music wihtout connecting to the crowd at all. Everclear made me feel as though they were playing for their fans and not just for the money. They made my concert experience well worth it, I will go and see them again and I recommend all their fans and anyone just looking for a good concert experience to do the same.
