Whether you're coming home from a long, hard day at work or plotting on a mischievous night at a club, taking a hot bath with aromatherapy is an inviting way to relax. Although there are many closed stores at Evergreen Plaza, 9500 S. Western in Evergreen Park, IL near Chicago's south side, The African Store staff invites mall shoppers in for sexy treats.

The African Store has over 250 fragrances, and their crowd favorites sit on a table near the middle of the store. The most popular fragrances are Piña Colada, Eat It Raw, Hot and Juicy, Jamaican Fruit, Lemon, Love Spell, Lick Me All Over, Mango Butter, Oxygen and Tangy Tang.

Shoppers can find various other oils and ask one of the husband-and-wife owners to either add a single fragrance to the unscented salt or get a mixture of fragrances from the aromatherapy dead sea salt.

"I like to call it the live sea," said co-owner, Steve. "It's only dead because there's no marine life in the dead sea."

The base of the aromatherapy salt is unscented. With an oil mix, the fragrance can be transformed into body wash, bubble bath, shampoo, conditioner and lotion. It's all hypoallergenic, according to Steve.

Although shea butter is really thick in its natural state, The African Store also makes a scented, soft mixture of shea butter for moisturizer.

For those wondering about the racier aromatherapy scent names, Eat It Raw smells like soap, Hot and Juicy smells like powdery perfume, Love Spell is a light scent and Lick Me All Over is a feminine, sexy fragrance.

Mango Butter has a natural, outdoor fragrance. Oxygen is light and has a unisex cologne aroma. Tangy Tang is a little sour and smells like hotel soap. Piña Colada has a fruity, strong scent. Jamaican Fruit is earthy and a feminine, sweet fragrance. Lemon is self-explanatory, but it's so loud that it may be a little too much for some aromatherapy bathers. Love Spell is another light scent.

Out of all of the fragrances, Lick Me All Over in the pink container and Jamaican Fruit in the green container are by far the best smelling ones even though none of them are bad.

The African Store also sells paintings, clothes, jewelry, African flags, incense sticks and silverwear. Evergreen Plaza has over 100 other stores inside but none quite like this one. The service is friendly, funny and quick. There are plenty of fragrances and other Afrocentric paraphernalia to choose from. The specialty store is located on the upper floor of the mall directly above The Food Court. To contact the store directly, call 708-346-0298.
