EverQuest 2: The Ultimate Life Support

Poetic Halo
It seems silly, it seems a bit childish, it even seems downright irresponsible...yet I still do it. I wake up and check my character for items sold. I craft to make a living in the game like there was no tomorrow. I adventure to engage in role-playing tactics to reach a new level. I even camp out waiting on monsters to spawn so I can rave about the kill. Yes, I admit it I can't live without EQ2.

I have begged my friends to join in, buy the game, and even led them to becoming addicted. We have planned game days, weekends, and yes even holidays. Guilds have been formed for friends and enemies across the screen. Purple hair and mis-matching outfits alike...we have all been there!

Let's back up for a minute, gaming was never my forte, in fact I remember on various occasions making rude comments about people who played video games. I guess what they say is true, "What goes around comes back around!" I didn't even buy it, it was given to me by someone in my family. I played it once and didn't touch it for 5 months. I was bored. I was tired of the constant stress of life. I installed EQ2 one more time and it hasn't left my desktop since.

What is it that keeps me coming back for more? It can't just be the video game, can it? I admit the graphics are above average, the content is worth the 6 or 7 hours of play time on the weekends, and even the people are nice.

The expansions are well packaged and well worth the $50 a pop. Even the constant updating and live adventure seeping into my dreams are tolerable. I am a warrior, I am a healer, and yes even an evil dark elf wizard. I can be anything, change anything, and remain superior if I just remain at full potential.

Changes are evolving with this game. The desire to reach new avenues with the characters leaves you wanting more. With role playing, crafting, adventure, harvesting, and selling you can choose whichever path you seek.

These small things are simple to most overlooking the evolution of the role-playing game. To those of us who rely on the sale or the sword to survive it's a world outside of our own. I pray that the internet realizes my desire and need to play EQ2 for the day it crosses me it will meet death by my sword.

I'm almost glad I have never played Everquest since I know for a fact that I would be an addict.
