Remember, games are getting more and more detailed as newer computers and upgraded hardware are invented. Hey that's all gravy, I'll purchase better computer parts if the game is that worth it. Like I said before Everquest II's main focus was it's graphic detail, and while all the RAM and Video Memory possible it still lags a bit. I really thought this game might have been the best MMORPG out to date, even surpassing it's nemesis World of Warcraft, but not really. Believe me Norrath couldn't look more beautiful on full video power, but it just doesn't cut my expectations of how a game should run.
I am an overall gamer. I look for graphic quality, sound quality, and performance. If this game got all 8's I would say excellent job guys, but it just doesn't I would say it get's a 10 for graphics, 9 for sound, and 5 for performance. That's just not good enough for me. While I can't really bash this game anymore, I do have some good to say about it. If you want to lag throughout much of the game, you can surely explore endless hours of terrain without being bored. Every character is different in it's own way, and while everyone is different in there own way, this game really puts that into play greatly. There are plenty of quests to do, and these are the mainstream of the game. In order to advance in the game you must complete these quests. I mean you can farm or hunt monsters to gain exp, but what's the fun in that without gaining the resources you need to upgrade your inventory, etc? Surely you won't be bored by the quests in Everquest II.
One more thing about the poor factor of the game is the no player vs. player component. I was surprised because in an MMORPG you want to be able to show off your skills to one another and this game doesn't allow you to do that. Maybe they though it would be too annoying if everyone was killing everyone and no one could complete the quests they needed, but you could have created a seperate part for PVP, and another for normal questing, etc like World of Warcraft did. Of course you don't want to copy, but many MMORPG's do copy in a way. Overall I would give this game a 6. It's just not the type of game I thought it would be, and I'm sticking with World of Warcraft. :)
