Contestant Brooke White, born in 1983 sang the Police classic 'Every Breath You Take'. After deviating from her piano last week, Top 10 week found Brooke back behind the keys. After a shaky start (she started singing off-key and chose to re-start the song with the right notes) Brooke gave America another solid performance.
During Hollywood week, Brooke never stood out as a front runner, but since entering into the top 24, she has really found her niche and has shown America that she deserves to be in the competition. While last week and this week haven't compared to her Top 12 performance of 'Let it Be', Brooke has still been consistent and has been able to put her own spin on classic songs.
After her performance of 'Every Breath You Take', the judges didn't hate it, but they didn't feel it was her best performance either. All three commented on her re-start of the song, but none made as big a deal about it as when David Archuleta forgot his words in Top 12 week. All three also felt that the first part of her performance was a lot stronger than the second part. Brooke started with a soft melody accompanied only by the piano but as the song progressed, the band joined in and took away some of the spotlight.
It is easy to tell by the judges' reactions that they truly think that Brooke White is one of the top competitors in Season 7, but like everyone else, she is struggling to find the perfect song that will truly showcase her unique voice. At first, many believed that Carly Smithson would be the one to make it all the way, but as of late, Brooke White is proving that she deserves to have a spot in the Top 2.
With a fan base that only continues to increase, its easy to see that Brooke won't be leaving us for quite some time, but at this stage in the game, wowing the judges is all important, because many voters take their opinions into consideration. Brook's Top 10 performance was solid, but next week, she'll have to go above and beyond in order to prove to America that she deserves to remain in the competition.

Post a CommentSaw the show. All the singers were really good in my opinion.
It will be hard to pick someone to go home tonight?
It's hard to pick which one should go. I think they all did a great job, although I didn't care as much for "We are the champions" as the judges..He couldn't really hit those high notes.
