Every Woman's Guide to Simple and Easy Ways to Relieve Stress

Ten Stress Relief Tips

Marilyn Quinn
I have found that the most effective and easy to achieve stress relief techniques are the ones that we perform before our stress has a chance to start. Relieve stress and the potential for stress through small but persistent actions. Here are my top ten and I saved the best for last.

Avoid stressful people. I have had to cut out or seriously limit the time I spend with people who I know will cause me to be stressed. Look for the energy-drainers and joy-stealers in your life and consider releasing them. It is for your better health to do so and will quite enabling them also. This seems difficult to do, but it is such a relief once you take that step.

Work at changing your lifestyle to support a healthier you and a healthier response to stress. Eat right, take a nutritional supplement or natural stress remedy; like A-Supreme from AdvoCare.

Exercise. Your body can handle stress much better when you are healthy and well; and following a regular exercise plan will help you in this area. Just the act of walking daily will have a calming effect on you and improve your outlook and attitude.

Have a strong spiritual or religious life. I have had some of the most difficult times of my life turned around by simply having the spiritual strength to face adversity. If you are strong in your religion or spirituality, then you are better equipped when stressors enter your life.

Turn off the news. Much of what we see and hear about on the news is negative and we have no control over it. Much stress can be relieved simply by refusing to keep putting negatives into your head, especially if you are just a natural-born worrier.

Pare down your activities and let go of the thought that you have to have it all. Busy moms and wives are sometimes slaves to everyone else's scheduled events, practices and extracurricular activities. Suggest to your family that you all evaluate and eliminate some activities that are stealing more of your peace than adding to your life. No activity is worth the cost of your peace and personal harmony. Even you single gals can relate because you are often trying to please the boss, your parents and everyone else.

Get a pet that matches your desired level of involvement. I have always heard that pets are great for stress relief. To further elaborate on that, I would have to say the less trouble they are the better, at least for me. Fish are great to look at and take minimal work. I personally love my cat because I feed him and he is pretty much just there if and when I need him to sit with me. If you are a dog lover and don't mind the extra attention they require, then go for a dog. Don't overwhelm yourself with pet duties.

Get into nature. There is nothing quite as relaxing as just walking in the park among the trees and feeling the sun on your face and the breeze in your hair. As a couple, my husband and I spend time walking the local beach looking for beach glass. These are among some of our most peaceful, relaxing times together.

Take time out just for you. Women tend to take on the world and take up everyone else's problems. Don't get so caught up in being your families activity and life facilitator that you don't take personal time for yourself. Go to the library, have a quite bath or treat yourself to a manicure. Make sure you have YOU time.

And the last, final and best suggestion I have to make to you; have great sex with your partner. Regular, satisfying sexual relations is a huge stress reliever. You will be in a better frame of mind, more relaxed and in a better place with your relationship; which is a huge weight off of your mind.

So in conclusion, I would say that you need to care for yourself mind, body and soul to achieve easy stress relief.
