On one side, you have Billy who is offended at being assaulted and harassed constantly since age 12, and on the other side, you have some people and students claiming that Billy is brining this matter on himself but not giving specific details about how this might be happening.
After years of paying medical bills to have Billy fixed after other children knock him out, Billy has parents who are suing some of the parents with children causing injuries. Again, there are two sides to this story. Billy's parents who want some justice for their son, and the side of the teachers and students who think that Billy is bringing this on himself.
Billy's parents are upset at the school system that is allowing this problem to go on, and is considering suing them as well. Again, there are two sides to this story. Billy's side who has to be in school by law, despite getting repeatedly injured there, and the school's position of providing safety for all students, except for Billy who is bringing these assaults on himself.
Billy's classmates have posted a Facebook page devoted to Hating Billy, and accuse him of being gay, which he is not. There are bad comments on this Facebook page according to the news reports. Once more, there are two or three sides to this story. The assumed right to defame another online for fun, the school's right to ignore this out-of-class issue, and Billy's right to have some kind of education without injury from this required public education.
This looks pretty simple to me. Billy's parents are right to start rocking the boat. They need to scream as loud, and as hard as they can scream. Billy is a special education student in reading; they need to scream to their state board of education about his rights to have an education.
By law disabled children (special education) must be given an environment where they can function to get that education. If the school and children are correct in their assumptions that Billy is bringing this on himself, then by law the school is required to give him an environment where he can learn with his skills. That might mean forking money out to have a tutor teach him privately at home. Education is the schools mandatory responsibility, and they must supply it to this child in a safe environment.
If Billy is being hit this is assault. It does not matter what Billy did to make people mad, they can not hit him under the law. The police should be brought in by the school for every assault on this child. If Billy's parents need help paying the resulting medical bills, they are correct in going to court to get help in paying for their assault bills.
What often happens in schools is that all of the teachers there form a belief that children all must dress or act in one defined manner, or they are called problem children. Once being defined as a problem child, they assume that whatever is happening through the "good children" is acceptable behavior dealing with an assumed problem. They grow blind to the actual facts happening around them. It is a mob-mentality situation. If the acceptable thing is to be having fun picking on Billy, then that's what the mob will do.
I do not excuse any adult in this situation. Billy's parents were late in starting to file charges and finding out what their legal rights are. The school is late in realizing that they have a problem. The parents of other children are negligent in not knowing or explaining to their children that they can not participate in this type of hate-crime activity.
Billy can be the worst bully on the planet, or the sweetest boy to every walk the earth, it does not matter. What matters is that we have a child screaming abuse, and he has documentation to go with it. That is what our society needs to be concerned about. This child deserves the right to education without constant injury while he is trying to learn.
I don't hate Billy Wolfe. I hate the system that allows this Billy Wolfe problem to exist in many places. Billy isn't alone; there are lots of Billy's out there. The children labeled as 'troublemakers' still have rights.

Post a CommentThis poor kid doesn't deserve to be treated by these loser dirt bags. These kids should pay the price and get charged for assault and the courts should impose some heavy fines to these idiot parents who gave birth to these bullly kids. I'm sick and tired on hearing how kids are nowadays and how they have no respect for other people. Karma always comes back to those who do wrong.
Couldn't have said it better myself BullyKilla...
When I was younger the internet wasn't around so my advice is to become the expert fighter, befriend and defend the computer geeks (who probably get picked on also) and you'll have the internet problem covered against a bunch of idiot bullies that know only how to use a mouse and create a facebook account....the geeks grow up to become successful, so they will remember the help later in life.
I agree with the post about putting kids in wrestling, martial arts...etc. When my oldest son was 10, we moved to another town..he was bullied for about the first 2-3 months we lived there..Then he just whipped the one that kept picking on him..and it stopped. He is 23 now and he was a top wrestler in Middle and High School...Now he's a mixed martial arts fighter...needless to say, he hasn't been bullied in a long time. :)
When I was bullied, it was the teachers turning a blind eye and the parents of kids that were really bad parents that did all the bullying. So I asked my parents that I take martial arts at extremely tough schools and was able to fight back. I actually got tested more by the bullies after training, even by 2 or more but eventually they get tired and will move onto "weaker prey".
If your child is getting bullied, do what you can as a parent, but get them into a top martial arts, boxing, wrestling school. Give them at least a fighting chance and confidence while you support them by becoming good at what they take and pushing them to never give up, think with your head first and your fists second.
Reguardless of who said what, who started what.... Bullies need to be delt with in the schools. A school is for children to learn the skills needed in life, and yes I understand that means life lessons such as "life is not always fair, ect.". But a child reguardless of age, should be physically and mentally safe while in the care of the school system.
When I was in middle school, for 3 years, we had a class at the beginning of the year that taught skills to cope with the pressures of school, bullies, stress. Our school was a pilot school for the program. As a result of this once a day for 6 weeks classes... our middle school had the lowest rates of school violance and disruption. What they taught us, stayed with us through High School. And possible beyond. Parents may not have the knowledge or skills to teach there children tolarence but its still a skill everyone needs to learn.
So what if bill eggs kids on? Does that justify beating people? Harassing them? Embarassing them?
Emmit till whistled at a white woman and was killed for it.
He was killed because of a sexual innuendo.
The white guys said he "egged the white guys" on so to speak.
Does that mean it was right to beat him down?
No. Violence is Violence. Two wrongs don't make a right.
It disturbs me to read all these people talking about what a terrible person Billy is. I doubt any of them have any idea what they are talking about and probably have never heard of him until this whole thing went down. He did NOT kill a cat, and it is ridiculous to believe that he did just because you read it on some other random comment some idiot made. And just because somebody goes to FHS does not mean that they 'know everything'. The 'everything' that they 'know' is random bits of false information that had been exchanged by word-of-mouth. I go to FHS and let me tell you, there are tons of kids I have never even SEEN before let alone heard of, and I'm about to attend my third year there. About the school system/administrators, I know that they don't do anything, or enough, about bullying. I see kids get bullied every day, for such things as having a speech impediment to being gay. It never seems like the harassment is stopped completely, if at all.
This is something that has to be decided in a court of Law, not the bias media. I do not know Billy, but I am proud of him for standing up and telling his story. A child should never have to endure such crulty. As for the school district, they should be held accountable for the inaction. These bullies should be an example to all the kids out there who are being bullied, attached, or assaulted in any form, either physically or thru cyber posting.
The truth will come out in court.
Billy I wish you nothing short of a victory. take care
Tony
Letter from Wolfe attorney
As you may know, I have been involved in a high profile case involving bullying at Fayetteville High School. You might have read an article in the NWA Times that we consider very unfair and irresponsible. Curt and Penney Wolfe have responded w/ the letter below. They do not have the resources of the Fayetteville School District and the Northwest Arkansas Times to rebut the irresponsible articles and press releases. After reading the letter, if you feel compelled to help we ask that you simply forward this letter to some of your friends. Then, we ask that you email the Northwest Arkansas Times and ask them to print the Wolfe's response in its entirety. The Northwest Arkansas Times email is:

A LETTER TO FAYETTEVILLE FROM A MOTHER AND FATHER
As parents we hope that your children never have to endure the wrath of the public relations machines of Fayetteville School District and the Northwest Arkansas Times. Und
I know Billy. You guys act like you know so much about this, but you don't- while I'm not advocating bullying of any kind, Billy is NOT in ANY WAY innocent. He picks on kids who can't help themselves, and eggs people on.
