Everybody Should Hire a Golf Coach for the Long Game

Learning How to Drive the Ball Can Carry Over to Other Parts of Your Game

Richard McDuff
I hired a golf coach after looking for balls all over the golf course at my first attempt at playing one a par 5 course. I can not remember how long it took us to play the course, but I know how frustrating it was waving one party of golfers after another to pass on, so they wouldn't have to bear my pathetic driving. After that experience I went to my driving range and hired a golf coach.

I do not think that any number of books or videos can make a real difference in your golf, until you actually have someone (who is a professional) tell you what you are doing wrong with your swing. One of my biggest problems was that I was pulling up as I was about to hit the ball, this caused my club to hit the ball with the toe of the club head instead of the center . I was never able to properly turn the club head over, or if I did turn the club head over it did not make any difference.

The golf coach also taught me where to place the ball for the woods and the irons. This was great, because I had the golf ball to far away from me, and I also had a tendency to place the ball in the middle of my stance for all of my shots.

The golf coach really helped me with my long game which refers to my drives (shots off thetee) and my fairway shots. Each hole has a different difficulty level, differentpar and distinctive hazards, so my golf coach was a great help in instructing me how to useeach of my drivers and irons.

Mastering the long game helped me get to the greens infewer strokes, keeping my score and frustrationlevel down. Remember that it takes a long time tolearn consistency and remember golf can be a lot of fun to play!
